Afternoon all,

I've had my current build for around 7 years, an i7 4770k, 32GB RAM, RTX2060 etc., which I'm going to keep and shoehorn into a smaller case that its current CM Storm Trooper (be quiet PB 500).

I'll mostly be using the new rig for P3D v5, with a whole bunch of addon sceneries, weather engines, and study level aircraft, and ideally I want to get smooth frame rates while on ultra settings at 1440p on a 34" widescreen. I also want it to be able to last at least 5 years without needing to upgrade, so running MSFS at higher settings in the future once MSFS is up to a good standard. I'll also be using it for running various numbers of VMs, too.

My budget is ~£5k

So, the build, is:

Although I'm trying to find out if I can swap the 5800X for a 5900X at the moment.

It should still be within budget, just, with a 5900X, and should have no issues running current games at ultra with a decent frame rate, I'm just wondering if there's anything I've missed or anything that I should consider before I push the button?

saving some cash . White build can house 3090 if you really want to pay that much for a very inflated GPU chip

if vrms, then pump up to 5900x! OCUK should be able to do that fine! Just 5k on a system that will be outdated CPU wise Q4 is hurt! 3080Ti rumored in May to! 3090 without the extra ram and ££

Why outdated cpu wise the 5800s 5900s not be high end by Q4? :o id recommend not paying the over the top price on the GPU, as @orbitalwalsh mentions the 3080ti is rumoured to be coming soon im holding and hoping for one of those!

you have intel's 12 gen rolling out . can see performance wise the design is doing well in laptop range.
should be seeing leap frogging soon between AMD and Intel. AM5 should be end of Q3/start Q4 but could roll out Zen3+ refresh . interesting times.

If you've got the cash, £5k then you can easily buy ! Just have to stomach you know your paying more for then GPU and Ryzen 5*** series .
3080ti will be like hotcakes if miners can't use it, but everyone that's been trying to get a 3080 or even 3090ti at close to launch price will jump on them . 12GB would help your flight Sim, or 6900 16GB !
