LG design the OLED has a monitor/TV use based on one to two hours per day was more than enough to gaming on/five hours of TV use with a lifespan of 100,000 hours (11 years of use) As for static UI most modern games today can be edited in the menu, but browsers can't Sony released the first OLED back in 2007 when burn-in was a big problem and only a lifespan of 36,000 hours panel but still people bought them, 11 years later on with new features added to combat burn-in like on C8/C9/CX/C1 it's not the OLED panel fault but a user problem.:)

If and when Micro LED comes to the market there will still be one problem remaining the User.;)
I'm not sure if you're agreeing with me or not, haha.

Let's say you have a productivity use case where you have Visual Studio on the screen for 8 hours a day. With many static windows, UI elements (buttons, etc).

You'd be very brave to buy an OLED for that kind of usage. That's the kind of usage I associate with something called a "monitor".

I do agree the point your making, but when LG design the OLED imo it's like a PC monitor but not to able to leave all short cut icons on screen, wallpaper, Task bar, 3D cad, Visual Studio, etc: marketing for LG 48CX OLED was misleading:)

How can anyone want a 55" screen on there computer desk  LOL i just looked up the size 1228 x 706 x 46.9 looking at that from about 24" away would drive me crazy

Well before 48CX in 2020 all OLEDs was 55inch, I like the big screen I wanted the 65inch but the size was too big, so I am sitting far back and enjoy my games/TV :)

Just in case this helps anyone:

My BX works very well with a Polaris RX 480 8gb via HDMI 2.0.

Switching Freesync premium pro on in the TV settings menu gives you the option to turn on VRR in Radeon settings.

I've tried 4k @ 60 hz (incl 4096 horizontal) and 1080p @ 120hz.

Talking about Resolution for 10/20 series cards HDMI 2.0a/b 18Gbps. Higher colour depth is more important than full chroma subsampling, and since our OLED panels can handle 10-bit

PC Mode 4096x2160 120Hz 8Bit YCbCr4:2:0 output colour 'Limited' Output dynamic
PC Mode 3840x2160 120Hz 8Bit YCbCr4:2:0 output colour 'Limited' Output dynamic

3840x2160 60hz 12bit 4:2:0
3840x2160 60hz 8bit 4:4:4

4096x2160 60Hz 8Bit 4:4:4
4096x2160 60Hz 8Bit 4:2:0
4096x2160 60Hz 10Bit 4:2:0
4096x2160 60Hz 12Bit 4:2:0

30 series cards

3840x2160 120Hz 8Bit 4:4:4 = 32.08Gbps
3840x2160 120hz 10bit 4:4:4 = 40.10Gbps
3840x2160 120hz 12bit 4:4:4 = 48.11Gbps

I have seen this thread been bumped so many times for an old-ish monitor

is it really THAT good as a pc monitor? If so, I might get it to replace my 38inch ultrawide
this is what i did, using it also for a ps5 which swayed me away from the 38" ultrawide has the ps5 does not support 21.9.
no regrets but i think if you ask anyone who has the cx48 the golden rule is give yourself enough space to sit far enough away.
currently have it wall mounted and a 80cm deep desk and this is about as close i can sit to it

Updated mine to 03.21.21 yesterday, just had a pop up for 03.21.22 now.

Can't find any info though why a new update has popped up so quick.
