I had another episode where ads got through: it was immediately after Chrome updated itself. The ads were gone after the first video.

I only use ABP for youtube.

add a . to the end of the video url ( strange but seems to work)

Same here. A radio station here has a commercial that says "Youtube puts ads in the middle of music videos, **** {they bleep it} you Youtube".

uBlock Origin on Chrome here, with these entries added in the 'My Filters' page to remove those ads that block the end of videos.
