Took a call yesterday from a guy who asked if we could upgrade his PC for him with some parts he purchased online.
Not thinking too much about it I said sure... our hourly rate is such and such and put the phone down.

Anyway an hour later he turns up with his old PC and all the new parts lol.

i9, 128Gb of TridentZ, Maximus mobo, 1300w PSU and a 3090.

Needless to say I was like... er yeah no problem I'll get right on it. :p

Isn't a 1300W PSU massive overkill?

I’m from Jersey as it happens. I guess with the rest of the top end parts he has bought he might as well go for a top end PSU. My PSU is budget to suit the rest of my system.

So in the past 2 weeks I secured a 3090FE at msrp and could have even got another (was in stock for 10 minutes). Also lots of 3070s and 3060s are about for reasonable price. No excuse now.

I get the feeling we have different ideas on what reasonable is. To me a 3060 is a £300 card, £3070 £450, 3080 £650 and £3090 £850. Reality is the prices are way above that. Not a complaint but just a lot higher than I would call "reasonable" ;)

Reasonable for the moment. One has to be realistic about things. It is a big improvement. Anything that is £400-£1000 cheaper than certain retailers and auction sites want is reasonable I think. We have a loooonng time to wait until we get 2019 pricing structure back.

Yep your view on reasonable is very different to mine and my wife's is different again.

I suppose if your completely new to PC gaming then the prices might be fine. However I've been around a very long time and prefer not to chuck my hard earned away.

You got one from a 3090 fe drop? And there was stock for 10 minutes. The second part is surprising. But ye agree with others no excuse if your happy to pay 600 quid for a 3060. Not everyone can hang about and react to alerts within 30 seconds.
Saying that, most ppl have an old gpu that gets them by...so no biggie
