How many people are solid state only for sound/vibration reasons?
I've got some spare 4TB WD Reds from my NAS but I'm resisting using them to keep the PC quieter.

I'm moving to all NVME. 1 x SN850 1TB, 1 x WDBlue 1TB, 1 x 850evo 500MB. Currently got a 750GB WD black but that's going once I reorganise.

OS is on 1TB Samsung 980 Pro, most played games on a 2TB 980 Pro. Infrequent games are on a 4TB 860 Evo, anything else I don’t want to redownload I keep on a 5TB WD Black portable. And I have a 6TB Synology NAS I use to backup any documents/photos I have on my PC.

Also tempted to add a 8TB QVO drive at some point.

What storage ? Oh what computer, i have about 10 of them lol.

I have drives all over my bedroom lol, they never fail on me hahaha, so i just keep old ones.

I even use a Velociraptor hard drive in an extrnal usb caddy. I just love the clicking type sound they make and always lusted after them in the 90`s when i had no money and couldnt afford one.

I have 4 8TB extrenal drives for bulk storage ( high res photos, games, movies etc ) and some small SSD drives for speed.

thinking about shucking the extrnal drives but dont really want to ask on here how to do it incase i get a bunch of angry people saying that shucking is wrong etc

1tb Sabrent for Windows/games, 512 data SSD for more games and a 1tb for pics/vids/files etc. Thinking of getting a 2tb on my next system upgrade but porbbaly don't need it.

About to update my systems a tiny bit:

Across many rigs:

Main: 240GB Boot SATA SSD (Crucial M4), *new* 2TB Program/Storage SATA SSD (Crucial MX500) - 2.24TB total
Secondary: 120GB Boot SATA SSD (Crucial BX100), 512GB Program/Storage SATA SSD (Crucial MX100) - 630GB total
Tertiary Laptop: 64GB Boot SATA SSD - 64GB Total
Windows 98SE Gaming System: 40GB Boot ATA HDD, 40GB Program/Storage RAID0 ATA - 80GB Total

So just a little under 3TB in functional systems. Not including the NAS, having another 6TB there.

Shuck away... there are plenty of good video guides on YT... depends if you want to potentially ever return them under warranty....
