Took this to R-Tech recently (Stage 1) and they've completely transformed the car. Pre-cat delete and Revo intake the only perfomance mods so far. Back for all the torque soon.

I had my S3 mapped by R-Tech, made 370bhp/390ftlbs - you are going to wish you had 4 wheel drive to put all that lovely torque to the road :D

What supporting mods have you had done?

A few weeks ago I bought a 2018 Golf R - anyone in here have theirs mapped, if so who did you go with/why? :)

I've already had DSG/Haldex serviced, soundaktor turned off, after next payday will be swapping the crappy Pirellis that VW saw fit to install for some decent rubber, pilot sport 4.

VW claimed they had serviced the haldex but I didnt trust them to do a good job so had it done again at the specialist I use/trust.

Where's the fun in that? :D

Stage 2+ should be ok without a diff with the right handling mods and tyres, and their tuning. Still very tempted by a Wavetrac.

My sister's S3 had the Revo Stage 1 remap and the DSG remap done. Not cheap but both superb, no issues at all in the 30k+ miles she's put on the car since. Best features of the DSG map for me was the removal of the manual gear kickdown. That and the launch is a load quicker.

I've got a 3 door 16v GTi.

I've got all the best factory features; Rev counter, MPG readout, temperature gauge, electric windows, sunroof, rear disc brakes.

Oh, it also is half built, did I mention that? mQYpvGO.jpg
Disappointed in the lack of traffic light air freshener.

Does anybody know what the true service schedule on the MK7.5 'R' is? I am getting conflicting information online and across various forums.

My car seems to be on a flexible service schedule with 24,000 miles currently, what age/mileage should the 7-Speed DSG and Haldex system be serviced at?

Variable Servicing will be an 18,600 mile / 2 year upper limit, it'll ask much sooner if you do the wrong type of driving (i.e. not mostly motorway / A road cruising). If it does, you'd probably be better off on fixed servicing anyway, which they can change you to at next service.

That 7sp DSG is 80,000 (at least according to Skoda) however I did mine at 40,000 because that figure is so ingrained in people for virtually every other DSG with a schedule I figured it would probably hurt it from a selling perspective with people assuming it should have been done at 40,000.

Haldex I think is 30,000/3yr but that's probably about the worst one to get a concrete answer for.

For my vRS, when I was getting conflicting info on the DSG, I emailed Skoda UK customer services and asked directly what the recommended schedule was, that way i've got it in writing from the manufacturer if I ever had issues under warranty - they answered within a day or two IIRC. I'd email VW CS and ask directly for the recommended service intervals for the DSG and Haldex system, get it straight from the horses mouth that way.

Thanks for the detailed response. I'll email VW this weekend to get a confirmation.

It seems like the Haldex is possible due though so I'll get that taken care of when it goes in next week for its inspection service.

Ordered a mk8 Golf R as next lease. Going by the VWROC forums the lead/build times are much delayed with part shortages. Dealer reckons November but I'm expecting more like Feb/march :(

So could well cancel it, will see if get a build week over the next month or two.

I ordered an R, on lease, January 12th, and as of June 16th it still hadn't even been given a build date. I've ended up cancelling. It was a completely base car.

The lease company said originally they were expecting delivery to be March. I had a Leon cupra on lease at the time and that was going back end of May. Lease Company said they would hold onto R for the two months so I ordered.

The whole lead time debacle is a mess and from what I've seen on VWRoc forums. People are miffed to say the least with VW and the lack of communication and different stories being told to them by dealerships. I saw one quote of a dealership saying they are being told 48 week lead time now. The communication I had was non existant, but I think that's because the lease company weren't being told anything by VW. It was me chasing every month to see if anything was moving etc.

It's well documented there is a global shortage of the semi conductor chips for these cars, vw aren't alone but the difference is it seems is that other manufacturers are being upfront about the delays they are experiencing.

I actually now have a little corsa for the time being, as after looking round for an alternative to the R I found myself still really wanting an R so I've actually now ordered one to buy lol. Plus the prices of second hand cars atm is just going up and up, especially mk7 Rs.

Luck be have it I work for the NHS and through a company called motorfinity I can get a pretty decent discount on new. I've ordered pure white, dcc, hk audio and winter pack for 34k, supposed list price was 42k.

They quoted me 18 week lead time, to which I laughed hard at, the guy asked why I was laughing and I explained the above a little and he said, well that's what VW have just quoted me. That was 2 weeks ago so VW aren't really being upfront at all with the situation even now.

Yeah it's a mess alright. Not much else to match the price/package.

Current lease has actually finished but just renting it month to month. Might just give it back and get a banger and settle in for a wait.

I think that's the best thing to do, it's gonna cost a fortune rent when you can put that money into a banger and probably get a few hundred quid back at the end if its still worth selling when you finish with it.

Unfortunately I'll be surprised if you get it by November based on my experience and what I've seen of VWroc. I'm not expecting mine until the new year, which is gutting to say the least.

Hopefully I'm proved wrong for both our sakes though!

It's only an Astra, nothing flash though it's quite nice, lease was only £150 a month so not expensive.

Make sure they clean the filter on the haldex too, a few people say on vwroc that VW miss that a lot - I think you may have to be specific about this being done.
