Hi Guys, So I have just finally purchased a new
MSI NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 SUPRIM 8GB GDDR6 Graphics Card !
.. for my brand new setup! super excited, however I am not up to date with all the monitor tech and really would like to get the full potential of my new card!

My Current Monitor is

ElectriQ 27" Full HD Freesync 144Hz Curved Gaming Monitor
Essential info
  • Screen size: 27”
  • Resolution: Full HD (1920 x 1080)
  • Aspect ratio: 16:9
  • Contrast ratio: 3000:1
  • Refresh rate: 144Hz
  • Response time: 3MS
  • Maximum power consumption: 48W
  • VESA: 100 x 100mm
  • Ports: DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort & Audio in
  • Dimensions: H 460 x W 620 x D 170mm
  • Weight: 5.25kg

Would I actually benefit a lot more from a new monitor with my new card any advice would be much appreciated!

It's against forum rules to post links to competitors, you should remove them before a mod pops along.

That aside, I think you would benefit from a good 1440P as a minimum.

what is the next range up from 1440p?... 4k? can i literally buy a 4k TV? or is monitor the way to go thank you.

You could consider ultrawides which are usually around 3440x1440, it really depends on the sorts of games you play though.

A lot of people have bought 4K high refresh TV's instead of monitors, I know some of the LG OLED's are popular in that regard.

Thanks grey much appreciated, been looking since the thread post... I'm just really uncertain if to go 4k? or 1440..

is 60hz still good at 4k?

or would a higher hz at 1440 be better?!
really uncertain against the two!

Samsung U32J590UQR 3840 x 2160 32" 4K UHD LED LCD Monitor - Black 60 Hz

OR

Gigabyte G34WQC-EK 3440X1440 34" VA 144HZ 1MS FREESYNC/G-SYNC COMPATIBLE CURVED LED BACKLIT ULTRAWIDE

:p:p:p what would you go for with this new shiny shiny 3070?

I'd go for the ultrawide personally, I just find they give that extra level of immersion and high refresh is a must for me.

There's definitely pros and cons for either choice.

If you can go see them in person it's definitely a good idea.

If you've never seen an ultrawide in person before you're in for a treat, ask them if they can demo a game on it for you if possible.

As for the refresh rate, unless you're hardcore into esports 144/165hz is ample imo.
