Hi, my friend is looking to buy a gaming pc but is struggling to find parts atm and is unsure of what to buy aswell. Any help would be massively appreciated as hes trying to order it asap as his old 7 year pc is about to die  His budget is £850-1000. Thanks!

Can any parts be salvaged from that system, particularly the GPU and any drives, maybe case? If so, find out what models they are.

Prebuild will get you a i5 1400/3600x and a 1660 super for about £1000.

Reusing the old case could save £50 ish. Psu might be a bit ropey depending what it is. gpu can be used as a stopgap until prices 'normalize' (hopefully).

If he wants to start new and build himself something like this is about the best with the current gpu prices unless he can get a nvidia founder edition card at msrp somewhere.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £981.54 (includes shipping: £11.70)

750 watt psu for later upgrades and wifi because I dont know if he neeeds it or not.
