Kinda making yourself look bad unless looking for any sort of attention it's not something I would wanna brag about

Im not bragging I was asked how I got more then one so I answered the question.

Why sell them when there hard to get?

I sold my 3080fe when the trade in store offered twice what I paid and I had already got an aib for close to rrp. My mate traded his a little later when it hit 2.5x what he paid. That alone paid for the rest of his new pc and he’s currently using my old 1080.

Ok it's not something I would post about when basically admitting to scalping while people having hard time buying cards

Buying a GPU for yourself to use and then cashing in on trade in sites ridiculous prices is not scalping. Buying 10 and selling them still wrapped in plastic is. We don't have to vilify every single person who has bought and sold a GPU recently.

It depends as there could be instances of people complaining on here how they had to wait etc. then did obtain one. Could have sold it for a nice margin.

In these cases they are contributing to the problem much like the guys that were buying for nephews/aunt's/pets. Let's not beat about the bush, the default stance particularly on here is its a gamers right to own one of these GPU's and they are being deprived of that. When you see some of the shenanigans going on its comedy gold. If you bought any of the 30 series cards to game on yet sold up to make a tidy profit you can understand ethically your going to be referred to by some as a scalper. Just highlighting the status quo, I have nothing against a person moving on their own components.

Agreed. Sold my 3080 FE for £1620 after using it for 7 months. Then later purchased a 3070 FE which I am using now. I am no scalper. If I was I could have purchased and sold loads by now.

Why didnt you put it up for £650 buy it now? Or at least £750 or so to cover fees.

Is scalper only someone who buys with intention to resell, or just someone who sells for a excessive amount of profit whenever the chance arises?

I suppose to answer the question, is would you have still swapped your 3080FE for the 3070FE if the market wasnt what it is, so basically if you was unable to sell the 3080FE for a massive profit, would have you kept it?

I sold to a company called CEX. If I could go back I would do it again. If you want call me a scalper then go ahead. But I disagree, because as I said, if I was I could have purchased and sold loads by now. Hell I even cancelled my ASUS 3080 pre-order here once I secured my 3080 FE. If I was a scalper I would have kept it and made a profit on that too. Instead OcUK made the profit as I got it at RRP and at the time I cancelled they were selling them for a hell of a lot more.

No problem :)

We all see things differently I guess. I just don’t think it is a black and white thing. If I was a scalper I would be buying and selling like mad and not be mentioned it here at all. The 3070 FE I recently got would not be in my machine but flipped for a tidy profit.

I think this is a tough one, you just know that there's a high chance of the person that snaps it up for £650 has the intention of quickly selling it on for profit.

If I were to sell, I would put it on auction and let the market determine the value and if someone wants to pay over the odds that wouldn't be my fault.

FYI, I have no intention of selling

Because graphics cards exist for gamers. They wouldn't exist in their current form if it weren't for gamers.

Industry would get their own specialised cards, but commercially available graphics cards are made and sold for gamers.

Edited - kind of going off topic there, so er, anyone notice the 3080ti has become a bit of a phantom card?

If you wanted to sell the 3080FE then fair enough but then you went and brought a 3070FE which unless you paid the 2nd hand going rate for you've abused the system put in place to prevent people getting more than one FE card and deprived someone else of getting it at a reasonable cost.

3090 delivered today along with a psu, mobo, ram, ssd and cooler.

Cpu and case coming tomorrow.

No reason for this post other than I'm all excited and want to tell a bunch of randoms on the internet. :D
Nice, should get some good performance out of the 3090, mine has been faultless in my machine for the last 6 months.

The 3070 FE only uses 6 pins. (for some reason the adapter cable reduces a 8 pin PCI-E cable to 6 pin)

You can see this on the pics here https://www.techpowerup.com/review/nvidia-geforce-rtx-3070-founders-edition/4.html

My bad, well, 6 or 8, the point was that they don't even use the whole connector. BUT the adaptor cable can make tighter turn than the chunkier PCIe connector so I'm not complaining. And yes those "fillers" can easily pop out, leading to panic about "breaking" it ;)

Some accounts bought multiple FE cards before christmas as the one per card address thingy was not in place at that point.
That's why they brought in the rules to try and stop gready people but I guess some will still go to any lengths to circumvent.
