Wow - dunno if it is related to Afghanistan but a ton of US and UK military heavy lift heading into the region at the moment - multiple Super Galaxys and Globemasters.

(Obviously there is always a certain amount of that kind of traffic).

Yeah, I was tempted to post it in the flight tracking thread, but seemed appropriate here. There was a C5 earlier, but they regularly fly in an out of Germany and Turkey, so didn't seem to abnormal. Just showed up again just off Malta.

An MOD A330 landed in UAE about 10 minutes ago, no doubt related. A400M heading down too.

There has been/is a bunch of A400M, A330 as well as Galaxys and Globemasters, etc. flying in tonight - some are only popping up for a short time. Not sure if related to Afghanistan and the evacuation efforts, etc. but busier than usual.

The Afgan army have fled, this is going to be awful for embassy staff. 5000 US troops inbound to Kabul Airport too but the airport may be taken by then.

Yeah just saw the news they think the Taliban could over-run the airport in a matter of hours - the US and UK forces seem to be working to a 72 hour schedule so things could get pretty messy.

ANDSF fled Kandahar just in time before the Taliban could slaughter them, they fled Mazari-Sharif and are trying to cross into Uzbekistan still with tailbacks at the border crossing. The problem is now that pretty much the entire border with turkmenistan and uzbekistan is now a no go due to Taliban control and if the Afghan defence forces are not permitted entry then the Taliban will slaughter them.

ANDSF and Afghan commandos are ready and in place to defend Kabul but its not going to be pretty, they will be surrounded in a matter of hours....Asadabad fell last night/this morning and it's only a 4 hour drive from Kabul so they could circle round and meet Taliban forces from Mazari-sharif and attack the airport.

Some of the paramilitary groups seem to be absorbing ANA that are prepared to fight but the pace the Taliban are moving at I just don't think they can get organised in time. Rumours are some of them have US special forces embedded.

Heli supposedly under Taliban control:

Doesn't help when you have general dostum and atta noor offering $1million to whoever evacuates them out of the country after they boasted they would beat the taliban, looks like they were flown out over hairatan into uzbekistan just before mazir sharif fell

RAF A330 out of Brisbane - seems a bit unusual if it was but wonder if things are so desperate it is headed into this region.

Gonna be some sleepless nights for some in the military by the looks of it.
