The 11700 is a faster gaming CPU with power limits unlocked, but at the cost of significantly higher power consumption. If the 11700 is power limited then there's not much in it, the 5600X can beat it, even though it's £50 cheaper.

The 3070 is faster than the 6700 XT, but not by a huge amount, except when ray tracing is enabled.

In other words, the 11700/3070 system is better, but not if it's a lot more expensive.

as above, depends on the price really. The 11700/3070 system is a little bit faster, but specially if you're just gaming its not worth spending a lot of extra money on.

Cooling would also make a difference, there are a few premade systems on the market right now (I'm looking at you DELL) that are right on the edge when it comes to cooling and its enough to swing this kind of comparison one way or the other

If you wanna go 1440p or 4k I guess the system with the 3070 is the way to go. On 1080p I would just go with the 6700xt system. Lets not forget the 6700xt has more overclocking headroom, has SAM and 4GB more memory.

The 3070 has dlss and rtx which the 6700xt doesn't do well at. The 3070 is a better gpu, when dlss/rtx is applied by a significant margin.

That's why I specifically said 1440p or 4k the 3070 is the way to go.
DLSS is not really worth using on 1080p and even then you still have FSR and the upcoming similar Intel technology which will be available to all so it might become better even for 1440p.

As you clearly see in this video they are pretty much the same both taking blows here and there with SAM and Resizable bar on:

And this is still without overclocking where the 6700xt has an advantage...

Not to mention the actual main advantage of the 6700xt having 4GB more VRAM.
8GB is already at its limits nowadays, I wouldn't feel comfortable buying an 8GB card anymore...
Even my GTX 1080 has 8GB...
