I did the NC500 in Mar '18 and loved it, due to lack of time I did it in a single day back then (about 16-17 hrs IIRC)
This time round I decided not to do the whole route, being August I expected it to be much busier and it was! Endless Motorhomes, thousands of them.
I wanted to include the Isle of Skye too this time.

I took a few potato snaps I thought I would share.

Day 1, Inverness - Thurso (11-12hr drive with some brief stops)
Day 2, Thurso - Isle of Skye (same 11-12 hrs again)
Day 3, A few hours around Skye then home (12 hrs)

Inverness Castle

Bealach ‘na Ba (at 6am this road is amazing, definitely the highlight of the trip)

I'm hoping to go back next spring, hopefully with even more time and to explore away from the NC500 route.. If anyone knows any good roads off the NC500 on the west coast please post them and I'll create a little list for next time.

Cheers

The wife and I did it in 3 days on a motorbike, I actually feel that it was far too rushed, there are so many places to see and explore. If I do it again I'd probably take a week but hearing how busy it is these days is putting me off.

Looks lovely. Been on my bucket list for some time but like others have said, with every staying in the UK rather than abroad for holidays, the NC500 is very crowded.

3 days is good going but I'd persnally want to take my time alittle more. The rear queston would be what car to take.

You've covered some serious driving time there, fair play! The NC500 has moved up even further on my 'todo' list.

I'm not long back from a trip that included Loch Lomond & Skye, took my C63 & every mile from Loch Lomond onwards was absolutely epic. We covered 1300 miles in total. The GoPro lived mounted to the front screen! Breathtaking scenery.

We spent 3 days on Skye and there is probably still enough to see for a similar length trip.

**edit to add**
This thread is a great resource for NC500, a couple of regular posters live in the area and have made several recommendations.

I did it a few years back and it was surprisingly quiet, not sure I'd get that now. I think I'd look to vary the route though, much more to see outwith the formal route I expect

We stayed in a few hotels on route and had a great time. Bettyhill was a cracking wee place too, would like to have a wander there if I get back
