Upgrading my stepdads GPU

Now, normally I know what I'm doing when I'm upgrading for myself but a bit stuck here due to the situation.

He has my old GTX 970 and I'm not sure which card would be best.

I have looked at this https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus...ddr6-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-472-as.html as it's an "OK" price, but worried about noise and thermals due to a single fan.

My other thought was a 6600XT which I can get for around £430 but have been seeing quite a bit of negativity around those due to lower Vram size. I'm sure he'll be fine with 1080p and high FPS but 1440p would be nice on older titles.

I haven't had an AMD card since the R9 290 so I am out of the loop on the current offerings.

Shoot forgot budget too, yeah no more preferably than the 3060 in the OP. £480 tops, since I saw one before but it went out of stock earlier.

I would if I could find one. Hovering over the linked 3060 atm, due to 12GB Vram and DLSS capabilities. He's gonna be chuffed to nuts.

Those coolers are fine as long as you dont try and overlock. Its the similiar one they used on the 2060's and both of them in my son's PC's hover around 65-66c under load and they are quiet. Providing you have good airflow.

Yeah it's got good airflow, right next to a window and all. He won't be overclocking I'd have to teach him what it is.
