MOT law did become more stringent, from last led thread ->

4.1.4 Headlamps - Compliance with requirements - Changed sentence from 'Existing halogen headlamp units should not be converted to be used with HID bulbs. If such a conversion has been done, you must fail the headlamp.' to 'Existing halogen headlamp units should not be converted to be used with high intensity discharge (HID) or light emitting diode (LED) bulbs. If such a conversion has been done, you must fail the headlamp.'

I'm sure this update will please some and irritate others :p

I got some LED headlight bulbs (Novsight) earlier in the year.

I wanted some brighter bulbs, they were cheap as chips and I was curious! So I took a punt half expecting them to be rubbish (cheap Chinese LEDs haven't served me well in the past) and immediately replaced with a decent Halogen.

But they've been decent, I know they won't pass an MOT, but they're a bit brighter, the beam patterns good (one of the first things i checked), no ones flashed me!

That unfortunately is the problem.
The number of people over on the specialist forums - Yer, I bought one of those cheap Chinese HID kits for my car - the difference is night and day!
Yer, I suspect it is - pitty the poor person you are driving at who is being constantly blinded.
You also see a lot of "never flashed once" - well no, some of us realise that if we flash our lights at you, then that is two of us who cannot see anything. At least if you're only blinding me, there is a good chance you can still see what is going on.

My last three cars have had factory LED headlights but not had washer jets only self levelling.
i think theres a mix up between leds and zenon headlights the last 2 mondeos had zenons and factory washers for headlights , agreed it tends to be only titanium x that have them but have seen some titaniums special order

always made me laugh at wheeler dealers when they converted them and then the program had a disclaimer at the end stating they were legal at the time
