Hi Everyone,

Well it's been absolutely years since I last built a PC, and probably picked the absolute worst time to be doing it. Anyways, this is what I've come up with so far....

AMD 5800X
MSI RTX 3080Ti
MSI X570 Tomahawk Motherboard
1TB WD SN850 Black NVME
Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB SL 32GB 3600
Corsair H150i Elite RGB
Corsair 5000X Case
Corsair TX850W Gold PSU
Corsair SP120 RGB Fan x1
Black Braided Cable Bundle AWG18

£2,492.80 inc VAT

It's going to be powering a Samsung 49" CRG9 Monitor which is 5120x1440@120. Hopefully, at some point....when I've recovered from paying for all this lot, I fancy buying an HP Reverb G2 headset for racing and flight sims.

I did look at buying a prebuilt system, but they were more expensive and had a 3080 in rather than a 3080ti.

Cheers!

I went ahead with the purchase, but made a few school boy errors (not surprisng with the amount of time it's been since I last did this).

The additional fan I bought should have been the elite, not the pro as it only had a 3pin cable not 4pin. I also needed a 4pin splitter cable so I could run all 7 fans off the corsair icue commander.

Biggest problem though.....wrong PSU!! The motherboard needed an 8+4 for the CPU so I had to exchange it for the Corsair RM850.

ok, things not going so great. System won't work if the graphics card is in the top slot. Tried bios update, default settings, gen3....nothing.

works fine in the bottom slot.

Looks like you have the ram in dimm A1 and B1 slots.. Think it should be in A2 and B2, so 2nd closest and furthest away(from CPU). When installing, install A2 1st, (2nd closest, then the furthest slot)

Doesn't boot or doesn't output video signal?

diagnose if IO die is overwhelmed:
bump Vsoc voltage, to 1.15V-1.2V
single ram stick in furthest slot

different GPU to confirm the PCIE 16x slot is working

Turns on, but get the debug led against VGA. I've ordered a replacement motherboard which is coming today, but heard the SN850 M.2 drive could be the cause. I'll find out when it turns up later today.

GPU works fine in the bottom slot which is also 16x, so either it's a conflict with the drive, or the slot is dead.

The FE comes with a 12 pin socket, so comes with a 12 pin to 2x8 pin adapter (the adapter is plugged in already and I've just put the strimmer where it would plug into the adaptor (I've put the 2 x 8 pins behind each other and strapped the cables together). As you can see theyd be about 3 to 4 inches from the end of the strimmer to the card, which isn't quite the look I was going for

Mmmm, I wonder if someone makes a 12pin to 2x8pin (or even a 16pin) adapter. Rather than a cable I mean, just a plastic block adapter which would look much better.

Really nead Lian Li to make a strimmer for the 12 pin themselves.

Corsair do this below which goes from the gpu directly into the psu, which is far neater than what I've got at the mo

And this one is prob long enough to stretch far enough that when you connect it to the psu cables at least s/b hidden..so is an option with just using a strimmer on the mobo case, but again, not ideal for the look I wanted
