The Ampere RTX 3090 Owners Thread

Afternoon all,

By pure luck I managed to nab myself one in late January via a stock alert and frantic clicking. Have only recently decided to step into the world of water cooling, first job being a move to a suitable case. After much confused indecision I've gone for the P500A case pictured below with intent to mount the GPU vertically. Lots to do, not least figure out where to put that soundcard haha.

Really, are you under volting? Even with mine set to 0.900V @ 1925Mhz on the core I am hitting 75°C in games like PUBG. I have a Lian Li OL11D with 3 SP120 as intakes on the side, 2 SP120 on the bottom blowing on the GPU and 3 AF120 as exhaust

Even though, I've repadded and repasted my 3090fe (and it has lowered my temps) I've found that leaving the power at 100%, with a 100 mhz core overclock, gets the cards to boost nicely while not using more than 350W, with a custom fan curve that runs at 30% from cold (so no fan stop) then climbing quickly to 50% around 60C, this stays flat till 70C then I have it increase at a 45° angle. (I'll post a picture later, can't remember the exact numbers)
This seems to keep the core anywhere between 60-70C, (depends on load) junction temp peaks at 90C (but only for a second or so) and the fans stay at 50% So manageable fan noise and performance.

Sometimes I think I should turn Afterburner off, and just enjoy the card for what it does

I'm running at 40% until it hits 40°C and then it increase by 10% for every 10°C. As you can imagine at 75°C it is quite noisy.
I am running fan control software. I have 2 SP120 under the GPU that go upto 70% depending on the GPU temperature (I have several fan curve in fan control, great bit of software).
I was playing PUBG last night and the side glass was hot too touch. I removed the side glass from the case but this only lowered the temperature down by 1 or 2°C, I thought it would have lowered it by much more

Are the sp120's drawing cool air in or venting out.
Could you post a picture how the ventilation is setup?
This is mine, its very simple, mesh front and top.
There's is a front fan blowing in, and a side fan on the perspex slowly blowing in over the gpu.

The Sp120 are pulling air in from the bottom, the RGB Sp120's are pulling air through the side via a radiator and the 3 fans at the top are exhaust.

Ok, I didn't mention the side of my case is usually open and my fan never exceeds 60 to 70%. But I can understand many have their cases closed.

So are the 3 down the side from an aio, pulling warm air into the case? Or pushing the warm air from the radiator out?

Pulling air through an AIO into the case. Anyway, I've solved the problem. For whatever reason my resolution was set to 4K on my 1440p monitor. Not sure how or why it has changed

A lot of these 3090 models go over 70c. Highest I've seen on Gaming X Trio (with admittedly a steady ramp upto 100% fan set to the 70c target) is 69c. It never gets there and this card isn't too loud on 100% fans either. GDDR6X hotspot can be as high as 89c though but that way better than other cards too due to the heatpipe on the back.

I run 500watts and +100 core +700 mem for these temps.

I think the secret is having a massive case with 200mm fans front and side next to the GPU and raising the case a couple inches with a 140mm fan added in the bottom. Thermaltake Level 10 GT.

Think I found the issue. EVGA did a crap job of applying thermal paste
