Just back from the cinema....................7/10

Not a huge action packed opening scene, but was a good introduction.

Did not feel like Bond, but some parts it did, the DB5 scene was very cool.

007 is officially a designation.

They managed to get a female black 007 in - yawn.

The managed to shoe horn in Q is gay - yawn.

M was a complete caricature of Judi Dench and Ralph Fiennes - they are meant to have conflict, but they always had the answers and the interest of the country at heart. This M was a joke.

Rami Malek - very underused and a crap death.

Bond dies? WTF?! If this was any other movie, it would be a fitting end and i suppose it was a fitting end for Daniel Craig, but it ruined the movie for me. Bond doesn't die, Bond returns. So unless they keep it as canon and the designation is handed over, it seemed they were bowing down to a dramatic ending for Daniel Craig. There's also the consideration that Bond has a Daughter and a serious love interest.

I would have preferred a more happy ending.

Agreed. A female lead next, guaranteed. Another franchise ruined.

Craig is a superb Bond. But he's only really had one superb script and director and that was Casino Royale, 15 years ago.

Can we get Martin Campbell back for the next one?

Also agreed, not sure if I’d put Craig as the best bond, but Casino Royale is up there as one of the best bond films. I love skyfall too - the rest I could easily overlook.

Watched last night. Good film but not a Bond film.

Seemed to be more powerful women taking up screen time than Bond who played second fiddle to a myriad of supporting characters.
Remi Malek underused. He felt like more of a henchman for 2/3 of plot, not even meeting Bond until end and his character's motives and aims were never really enbedded so i felt i didnt give much of a hoot.
Blofeld / Specre knocked off without a second though after so much build up over several films.
If anything Bond, the phycoanalysis thereof and his demons felt like the 'big bad', cool in another film but not a Bond film
Wasn't as gritty as last few films, personal opinion but i like the gritty realism more.
Wasn't keen on set designs, again personal opinion but every set felt like a theatre stage design and OTT, again I like the more realistic films, busy, bustling, realistic streets etc I just felt the film wasnt believable, always get the sense im watching a film rather than being fully sucked in.
Replaced Bond with black woman, Q gay. It's 2021 so.... whatever, but why do we need to rip up decades of the franchise to make social/political point
Bond dies at end..... hugely dissapointed. Felt like my lifetime of watching Bond has been ****** on. As someone above said, Bond does not died, Bond returns. /SPOILER]

This is not a spoiler because I'm not referencing the film. But jeez guys chill your boots. Barbara Broccoli has always said Bond will remain a male character. What she says goes.

Mixed feelings.

I thought the overall movie was good lots of highs and made up a little for sub par past Bond movies (Daniel Craig) but the ending really confused me? I am not a hardcore bond fan but can someone please explain.

Always thought past.Bonds, Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Tim Dalton, Peirce Brosnan etc all played the same character and their past events in previous movies are counted as Bonds experience.? So are we now saying each Bond isnt exactly the same person but different alternative versions of Bond?

Doesn't make sense imo

I guess anyone can hold 007, but the name Bond isn't? IE the female never took up the name or similar.

The ending has made it all a bit messy!

I dont know much about the movie but i do not like the sound of the new direction they are going for the future.

Nothing sexist about it, i just think its just going to lose its way and end up another generic high budget action movie.

I think maybe the idea is that just like the designation "007" can be passed on, perhaps the "persona" can be too. Find a new super agent, train him up, he takes on the name and the designation because "Bond" can't be seen to die. It's what has happened to Dredd a few times now.

Also, the thing with the nanobots that will kill his loved ones, this was done in Smallville to Lana Lang with kyptonite nanobots so she had to stay away from her love Clark Kent.

Seen it now.

I have to say I thought the dialogue was absolutely horrendous, the worst of the Craig era for that. It was so clunky and constantly took me out of the film.

Cinematography was great, action scenes were good.

Better than Spectre but nothing close to Casino Royale which I watched again and is still amazing.

I’m not one of these go woke or go broke people but I kind of feel like the Bond in this film was completely different to the others and I wish they’d done more to develop him into this character. There’s a reason he’s the way he is because of the events of CR but that all seems to have been forgotten.

I think CR promised a lot and sadly the next films never really took it on.

Simple it's not Bond if he's not male. You all knew this was coming. It's probably a test to see fan reactions. Pre pandemic it was anyone could be Bond now we are seeing a slight diversion away from that but the seeds have been planted.

Good to see this is doing well in the box office all the same.

The Criticle Drinker's take was pretty spot on, especially the parts where talks about the script and the multiple writers trying to leave their mark...especially the waller-whatever her name is. The Ana de Arnas intro scene in particular.

I saw it on Sunday, and echo similar comments on here.

The film was fine but not a patch on casino royale.

just a bit meh

Was else thinking why doesn’t bonds watch destroy the nano bots (e.g. an emp would disable electronic devices)?

Also nano bots were just not that great of a plot point and some of the gadgets are just getting a bit far fetched for a bond.

The scenes with Ana de Armas were much more bond but that seemed to go out the window later in the film.

Overall it was a good film, just not very bond. That said, Craig is by far the best bond.

9/10. I thought it was fantastic and a proper movie experience after so long away from the cinema. Not without it's faults but I went in thinking it was going to be a woke mess but I thought they handled it nicely. The long intro up to the credits was up there with Casino Royale's and thought it was a fitting ending to a great run from Craig. Remi Malek didn't leave a mark and the theme was pretty forgettable, though. Loved it overall and will probably go back for an IMAX viewing.

Damn, I was warned very late by mates it wasn't great and they were right. Not a terrible film by any means, just very bland. Most of my specific points have already been noted by others. I've been waiting for another great Bond film since Casino Royale (Skyfall was good too, the rest entirely forgettable if still fun) but the wait goes on!
