I can't see it's something I will play but nice to see it's not straight up BR - cannot stand those game types.

having different game type options is good. means theres more for everyone and some people who might not play bf might give it a go. it keeps the game busy as well.

effectively you would pick up cash along the map, or large deposits of cash from supply drops (hard drive in this case I guess). You would then have to either use a recovery balloon to “bank” a small amount of money, or use a randomly placed helicopter extraction marker to deposit the full amount of held money. Being kill would cause you to drop a large percentage of your money on the floor for other players to pick up.

Truth be told it wasn’t a bad mode, but it was never taken seriously. You could level up your guns in Plunder instead of Battle Royale (couple with respawning makes it easier), and there was no consequences to stat boards etc if you left a match early. Consequently, the matches were largely full of people sprinting for kills to level up guns, or just hopping in to Plunder for 5 minutes before their mate was ready to play Battle Royale.

The issue I have with additional game modes is that is splits the player base. It’s all well and good having Conquest, Rush and Hazard Zone, but if they all were 128 players, you’re gonna end up with more bots filling empty player spaces. Unless Hazard Zone is restricted to 16/24 players kind of thing like the TDM modes used to be.

Hmm, yeah doesnt sound too similar to Plunder then. Its PvPvE , max of 32 players (8 squads) , just the one life, when you die you are out and if you can get the drives you then have to successfully extract with them. There are two opportunities to extract but each opportunity can only take 1 squad meaning that at most 2 squads manage to successfully extract but equally meaning that theres the chance that nobody successfully extracts. It really does sound much more like a BF version of The Hunt: Showdown than anything else I can think of.

Looks cool but not much there, all totally scripted. This actually seems the mode the game has been tuned for, the class/specialist changes especially.

The core BF experience during the beta was totally lacking, I played BF5 after it finished and BF5 immediately felt 10x the BF experience over the beta. It feels like they are pushing other game mods over the traditional BF conquest/rush.

Funny you should say that my friends and I were chatting after the beta and I mentioned to them that traditionally Conquest was the most popular BF mode but that I felt that BF2042 will be the first BF game where the other modes will be more popular, I can actually foresee the Hazard Mode and Portal Modes being more popular than Conquest. Conquest can take a while and in recent years players in games have been gravitating a bit more to things that they can jump onto, have a quick blast and jump back off again. Hazard and Portal are both looking like they will be no more than 30mins a match and that fits perfectly with the majority of modern gamers looking for those quicker matches. I'll play all 3 modes and rotate between them but with so many good games around at the moment and more coming out, cant say that I would be surprised if Hazard/Portal do prove very popular for the quick in/out crowd.

Not sure what you mean mate I can jump in conquest shoot one person and quit without affecting anyone. You can't do that in Warzone, Fortnite, Apex, Hunt Showdown etc without ruining your team mates game.

Conquest is the perfect jump in even for 5 minutes no strings attached mode.

I mean to play a match from start to finish. Most people when they play a match of something tend to want to see that match through to the end (or to their elimination) and one of those two things tends to be quicker in something like the games you mentioned than in a full Conquest match. Its not my style but I can certainly understand why some would gravitate toward the faster game modes.

But you don't care much about the outcome. Conquest is a large conflict that you can respawn as many times as you want and you can only play a tiny part of it. While all the "faster modern modes" you are describing require a much larger time commitment in order to get something out of them.

Quite possibly, like I say, its not my style of gaming but I do see many posts on many game forums from players who clearly do prefer games where the matches take less time. Again, not my style but I can understand that its the way they think.

Yeah I get it that's how they think. Like my mates who complain that they have to pay £50 for BF 2042 while most of them have dropped at least £100 on skins on Warzone. It's all about how you perceive things not how they actually are.

BC and BC2 arguably were more popular on Rush. Also 2142 titan mode was the most popular at least in the early days.

People who spend money on skins is a whole tin of worms that I 100% agree with you on, blows my mind that so many people do it :)

This became totally apparent to me also. I haven't played V in over a year but reinstalled it to test out some new pc parts. I felt like a killing machine with the TTK of BFV.

Can't say I'm overwhelmed by the Hazard Zone trailer, though the similarities it shares to The Division Dark Zone has me somewhat interested. Don't like the sound of the purchasable "perks" though,; that has no place in a Battlefield game to me - and they sound ridiculously overpowered too - +50% healing speed for Christ's sake?! Still undecided whether or not I'll buy the game, if I was purely planning on playing by myself then not a hope in hell, but should a couple of people in my group be interested then I'd get it purely to keep together for the social aspect of it.

Do you get to keep the perks when the round has ended and take them into the next one? Going to be a whole lot of fun trying to get into this after a couple of months when everyone else has 'perked' up to beserker mode and your starting on vanilla if so.

No you "purchase" the perks that you will use for the match, so its like a sort of loadout as far as I'm aware
