I've always wanted these 470/480/570/580 over the years for this level of performance second hand but could never get them for any resonable cost or missed the boat with people selling them so ended up with an 1060/970.

I might start looking for one of these soon as my second system is using UHD 630 atm but again the cost of them esp the 8gb can be :(

Edit: forgot to add I was also such a dumbass and didnt buy one of these new when they was an offer on here for them as I think you got a game or two with them that made them great value for money.

Hmm... my 580 has been living in my loft for the last 10 months (upgraded to a 3070). I'm always a bit wary of not having a backup card in case of hardware failure, but my main reason for not selling it is all the horror stories I've heard about selling cards online. I'm many, many posts short of having access the members market here, and I'm just not up for the hassle and potential for getting scammed that come with selling on eBay :(

My 590 (basically a slightly better 580) is soldiering fine at 1080p, I can still play ultra/60 with almost everything and some older titles are doable at 1440p.

Something I have found out is AMD GPUs love a good CPU upgrade.

So to test the true story of RX 580 you would need to test the games running on the past CPUS and the current CPU if you upgraded within that time.

A single generation CPU upgrade can at times show massive upgrades in min and avg frame rates seen this myself going from i7 3770k to I7 8700k.

His Days Gone performance at 1080p looks strangely low. Way lower than my GTX 970 in the same scene on the same settings. Also 10fps less than he's getting on 1440p in the next segment, albeit in a different scene.

Incidentally, the GTX 970 still holds up surprisingly well at 1080p once overclocked. It fares a little worse in DX12 games, though even Cyberpunk is perfectly playable on it with the right settings tweaks. All of these cards around the same sort of performance (R9 290/290X/390/390X, RX 470/480/570/580, GTX 970/980/1060) are really still fine for anything you want to throw at them at 1080p and around 60fps, providing you don't need to have everything cranked up to Ultra.

I thoroughly enjoyed Days Gone.

It's UE4 title though and the engine massively favours Nvidia GPUs as you have seen.

My overclocked 6900 XT is slower than a stock 3080 in that game which is something you never see.

Yeah enjoyed that although I had a 3080 when I played it. Have read they are doing a sequel or prequel there was a petition at one point had about 200,000 signatures when I looked at it maybe it did some good.

I still think that the 1080ti is the card to have/ have had. Just enough power still to hold out for the 4000 series

But but.. AMD drivers and stuff!!
Heh, no excuses just a mile behind in that game.

It is a great game though and got a lot of enjoyment out it.

Gutted there won't be a second. :(

I've heard there definitely won't be a sequel, but would love to be proved wrong.

Maybe i should upgrade my 11 year old i7 920 @ 3.2ghz with 6gb Ram :D
i get a pretty stable 60fps in GTA online with my rx580 8gb though so i'll hold off until i need some more grunt... but i fear that will mean a whole system replacement
