Hi all, I have a home on tn c s and a change over switch so I can switch from the grid and to generator. My question is how is my home earthed if I switch from grid tn c s system to generator, how is my home earthed so my rcds can trip when they need too.

Depends on what generator you have - it could be a floating earth (HSE have guidelines on using these systems - do a web search) or it could need a ground spike.

The very short answer is that as generators are only supposed to be temporary and used for light loads, earthing and RCD protection is not really a priority.

James Bond, is that the spy or is your name a reference to earth bonding?

I suggest getting a specialised company in to check if you are unsure. Ignore the above, if you are using this as a switchover to power a house it absolutely must be earthed.
