2009 Audi A4 Cabrio 2.0 TDI £3,400 @128k about 4 months ago.

And a 2013 Tiguan 2.0 Tdi bought 5 years ago for £8,500 @90k.

I'd consider both to be pretty great value, really. Probably only spent about £2k maintenance on the Tiguan outside of tyres.

Even the business leasing is far more expensive - but I guess the employer is contributing.

My employer gives me about £400 a month for a car. Do you think I could tell the wife the Polestar 2 was therefore free? :D

It's salary sacrifice, so the amount is taken pre tax and replaced in effect by company car tax. But company car tax is incredibly low on zero emissions cars making electric cars very attractive.

The actual cost of the lease will obviously be higher but that is presumably the net effect on his pay. Still seems oddly cheap, mind.

But the cheapest monthly fee I can find, with no options, keeping it for 4 years, only doing 5,000 miles a year and giving the biggest advance payment is still £395 a month.

How did you manage to get one for £250 a month?
Through his employer.
Yes, my company pays £420 and I add £250.
No idea how the total value is calculated as there are a number of EV incentives and tax benefits - the car was about £52k

I won't be buying another ICE car so will run these two until they start throwing big bills up.

Plan is to run both till they die, and hopefully look into Electric, provided it makes sense by then.

1972 MGBGT - Paid nothing for it, and plan to keep forever/upgrade/improve going forward.

Mazda 3 MPS (59) £9,500 4 years ago.
Ford Grand C-Max (18) £13,335 2 months ago.

I'm looking to soo trade in the Mazda 3 MPS for a Audi A6 or S4 or SQ5 when I manage to find a decent one under £25,000 locally.

My main car – and track car backup – is a 2015 Suzuki Swift Sport. It set me back £6,000 at the start of the year and I couldn't be happier with it. Fab little machine.

My toy/track hack/ongoing project car is a 1989 Chevrolet Corvette. It cost me £7,000 in 2019 and that still strikes me as a bit of a steal, especially considering that it's a rare six-speed example.

I've had 144mph out of it so far. Another 56mph to go...

2009 Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCI - Paid £2500 June last year with ~150k on the clock.

A far cry from many of the more interesting cars I wish I had. I could go finance something newer and nicer but I don't see the point, I have 3 kids and don't commute anymore. Funny how things change.

In fact I could really do with three adult seats in the middle row so want need an S-Max but refuse to pay current prices. I may end up getting a naff trim model if forced however it's the T-X Sport or nothing tbh.

Pulsar Gti-R £2300 6-7 years ago although it’s been sat in my garage waiting for some loving for a bit too long now.

Two cars:
For the missus, 2006 330i (touring). Bought nearly 10 years ago for just over £9k. Excluding standard maintenance, it’s cost around £1k in repairs (water pump, battery and alternator). So whilst the fuel consumption is not amusing, cost of ownership per year has been pretty good

2002 MX5 Arizona 1.8. Bought 3 years ago for £2k, but have probably spent another £4K since then, including replacing the chassis rails and giving it a full under seal by a reputable company. Also received some “personalisation” such as chassis bracing, lightweight wheels, new stereo, induction kit, stainless exhaust etc.

2006 Volvo S40 T5, cost me £1900 4 years ago.

It sounds nice and (remapped) goes nicely, it's only cost ~£1000 in repairs in the 4 years I've had it (excluding tyres and fuel).
Think I'll keep it till it goes pop.

Honda Civic 1.8 petrol, 2011 ES-T.

Bought privately in 2018 for £5600, one previous owner (who had recently expired) and just over 40k miles on the clock. My first car after learning and passing my test at about double the age everyone else does. Been totally reliable and have only had to replace a couple of brake light bulbs myself and the battery, then the usual servicing stuff like brake pads and a couple of tyres due to tread wear but haven't had to spend much on it.

Only other thing I've done to it is have a front/rear dash-cam installed. Will get the alloys refurbished when I go to sell it on as they're a bit tatty in places but have to decide on what I want next first.
