Well the boards are out and they are a joke price! £180 min for a budget board?

There are a couple of boards on pre-order for £110-120, but as a like for like comparison the build quality is that of a £50-60 B560 or B450/550 or worse, basically you are paying more and getting less, other than the second m.2 slot.

yeah i dont get why they dont price the boards where they are supposed to sit. 80 -120. no one is going to buy at 180+ for basically a budget mid range board. almost as much as the cpus you go budget for. cheapest board on ocuk starts at £180.

thomahawks and the like used to be 80 100 quid for eg now they start at 180 -200 lol. just taking the **** . hopefully they get adjusted or people just dont buy them so they have to drop the prices.

100 quid boards would fly out with these new cpus. at current price. they aint going anywhere. people will just buy amd instead.

I agree. Current pricing will just push people to AMD instead..

Intels thinking is sell the CPU's cheaper but rip people off on the motherboard instead. People are just not that dumb and see right through it.

Yeah a B450 Tomahawk Max II is only around £55-60, one of the best B450 boards made, and happily will work with a 5950X or a low end 5300G. When you are budget shopping and you are looking to keep the total platform costs down spending £150+ on a motherboard isn't budget anymore. People are asking me for budget ADL systems, and I am having to tell them you can't do it yet.

The best price i've seen is the b660m gigabyte DS3H, £104.99 or £119.99 with WIFI, I dont get the other b660 boards that are the same price as the Z boards, why would anyone buy them?

h610 with a 12400f for £245 seems pretty good if you want a no frills gaming setup

mATX DS3H boards already got inflated on AM4 going from B450M where they were around £45 to B550M where they suddenly were £75 or so. £105 is another level of inflation though.

the h610 boards though have quite big limitations.

Intel’s Hx10 chipsets feature on stripped-down basement-model boards, but something has to be on the bottom. Enthusiasts often feel Intel goes a bit too far when the company strips out features to make its Hx10 chipsets, and the H610 won't change their minds. H610 can’t overclock CPUs or RAM, which means even if you get a faster RAM kit, you won’t be able to run it clocked any faster than Intel’s specifications. These are capped at 4,800MHz for DDR5 RAM and 3,200MHz for DDR4. The chipset also supports only a single memory channel, which can hamper performance in some applications.

They do, hence no frills :) but the pci4.0 difference is minimal in cards, a lot of people dont want to pay the premium for the nvmes, it's a good cheapish setup which will beat something like a 5600x according to benchmarks with £35 left in your pocket but also a motherboard!

3200mhz will be generally decent for most games/applications with an oc not being a huge difference in performance either. It's not like its the 2666mhz the chips used to be limited to.

Pretty sure they're also dual channel, it's just that they are all limited to two DIMM slots, so two channels with one DIMM per channel.

its more the memory side. in games and applications it cripples it on h610 boards. so basically your left with a 180 board or go amd.
