The Radeon RX 6900/6950 XT Owners Thread.

Got my Sapphire Nitro+ 6900XT back today, but I'm not sure I'll have time to test it before I leave for tomorrow for a trip. However, they definitely replaced the card with a new serial number unit.

Crossing my fingers that they sent me a card the can overclock as well as or better than my original card. Mine hitting 2330 MHz Core/2100 Vram at 303W on +15, with 21,800 max GPU on Time Spy, was good for an Air Cooled Nitro+ at the time, although not nearly as fast as the latest cards coming out. Too bad manufacturers don't have a "trade-up" program to get an XTX or XTXH based GPU.

I got a Sapphire 6900XT MBA from here, it's a great card. My review is on the page, and I've not had any serious problems with it since purchase. There have been a few graphical glitches in one or two games, but they've been either impossible to reproduce or disappeared with a game or driver update.

I had it in an NR200 for a day and moved it today to my Meshlicious case so not had a chance to fully stretch its legs yet. I have a slight undervolt on it to help with temps in SFF cases. Will report back after playing some games.

Hi all, I currently have a RTX 3080 and Ive been toying with the idea of selling and getting a 6900XT.

Is the 6900XT a big upgrade over the 3080? Ive been an NVIDIA user for about 6 years, what would I be giving up on (apart from DLSS which I dont use, Ray Tracing which I dont care about and the NVENC encoder which I use a lot).

Would it be worth swapping and has anyone else whos been NVIDIA and swithced recommend it?

EDIT: May be useful to know I have a 1440p 144hz monitor also, would it be a much better 1440p experience?

For 4K, yes, for 1440p, I don't see the point as the 3080 is more than capable for high FPS gaming.

You'll lose DLSS and RT but if that's not a factor for you, and you can break even on cost, go for it. If it's going to cost you more, I'd wait for RDNA3/Lovelace as those will be actual upgrades.

I returned mine without opening it, I read reviews about high hotspot temp and got another card instead.

Just ran a Cinebench/Heaven in tandem to see how the temps were in my new case. Running for 10 minutes (standard Cinebench duration), the temps were as follows (ambient 21.1c);

5600X peaked at 67.4c
6900XT peaked at 61c with a hotspot peak of 80c

Pretty happy with that so far and I have the 280mm AIO tuned for silence rather than ultimate cooling so will see how it performs with an extended gaming session.

My 3090 FE used to regularly hit over 100c with its hotspot so as long as its in spec, I'm not too worried.

Yeah that seems decent.

See how it is under gaming load for 30+ minutes at 250-300W.

Well looking on **website that shall not be named** I could probably sell it for either the same price a 6900XT if not have a few quid spare after buying one too.

did a quick Furmark stress test on my LC 6900xt, GPU 69c, GPU hotspot 77c, VRAM 82c. GPU temps a few degrees lower if the top case filter is removed for better radiator airflow and fans were running at 40%. The GPU pump has some "clicking" noise but is not noticeable unless you get close to the case when the side panel is open.
