It's been an interesting few days getting used to my new card. It's a powerhouse in normal gaming, no issues there at all. However, in VR with the Quest 2, it's not as good as the 2070 Super it has replaced, I am hoping that a CPU upgrade will improve things there. Haven't tried any Ray Tracing games yet.

I'm running my Toxic at 2750/2850 in Call of Duty Vanguard using a 400W power limit. 350W with peaks up to 390W in COD Vanguard and Far Cry 6 at 325W 4K max settings.

Changed the stock paste to Silver King Liquid metal. Saw a big improvement in temps. Seeing a 6-8c delta between edge and junction temperature.

Junction temp below 80c, even at 400W. Toxic cooler is great and coupled with liquid metal allows big overclocks.

Stock 6900 XT boost clock is 2250Mhz. Toxic running at 2850Mhz is some overclock. Last Toxic did 2770Mhz. All stable in games. Obviously can overclock higher for short benchmarks if needed.

With MPT and added voltage up to 1.3v, 3Ghz+ is probably possible.
I guess when you have a 360mm AIO attached to the GPU you can push it a bit more haha

In terms of LM, now I am intrigued if I should add some to mine. Thought I cant remember if I still have Conductonaut.

Just be careful (I think I said this to you before, or perhaps it was someone else) as the Merc has a silly number of screws and it was not the easiest to take apart and dismantle.

Easy enough if you take your time and remember where things go, take a picture or two etc. But it was more effort than I am used to.

Whereas the Toxic was one of the easiest I've ever done, not many screws and relatively simple.

Yeah I had a look once and it seems a bit of a mess but I think I understand how it works. Hopefully LM makes a difference even if its on air.

Just had a look and I dont have Conductonaut anymore. I think I gave it to the guy I sold my 7700K since I wasnt planning on using it anymore (even though that was a few years ago). Should I go Conductonaut again or Silver King?

I am sure it will it is truly amazing stuff, it’s all I use now.

Yes Silver King is better from my testing.

How do you think the 6900xt is worse in VR?
Last I read it was a monster in VR too.

Also, quick question, I'm using a thermaltake P5 case, I'm contemplating using the vertical mount (riser cable) any performance loss doing this?
Unlikely with this card as all cooling for the core is done via the pump, only the rest is done by the fan so not as important to feed it cool air, although it helps.

I discovered that laying your case on its side, or using a vertical mount, can sometimes significantly improve junction temperatures on cards. Something to consider if you have a large delta or high running hotspot temp.

Good advice cheers, right, i have the card installed, with the latest drivers also installed, i've not touched or changed anything, i have no idea what i'm doing in the Radeon Software, do i install the sapphire software? you mentioned about checking my core speeds?

Thanks matt much appreciated, fyi, max frequency stock is set at 2544 in the software.
Ran 3dmark Firestrike standard, Card is stock,
https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/69004766?

a 22196 gpu score, no idea if that's decent, now i guess i start seeing what it can do, although some reading on what you've done Matt is required, for now i'll try Trixx and the toxic mode.
Picture for the OP would be good in the case, like mine below.

You'll need to update your CPU and enable Smart Access Memory in the BIOS to unlock more performance from your system, assuming you go Ryzen 5000.

You'll also need MPT to extend power limits up to 400W if you want to improve your Timespy score, but that's a decent starting point for stock.

If you are using the middle BIOS position like i suggested, then the stock power limit is 284W. +15% will take up up to 320W ish so some performance will be held back without a higher power limit as once you ramp clocks up beyond stock you will be power limited. Good chance you may even be power limited a bit at stock on the quiet BIOS.

The performance BIOS (far left) has a higher power limit, but still well below 400W and as I mentioned, you can't lower fan speed below 38% using that.

Cheers matt,
Here's a pic of it installed,

Far from the prettiest setup but I need to sort a new case today too.

In regards to overclocking, I'm getting something wrong somewhere as my scores on timespy aren't improving, just getting lower.

As a starting point, performance bios is selected, I've gone into the Radeon software and tuning control, manual tuning, fast memory timings, power limit 15%, I've enabled trixx toxic mode which boosts my max frequency clocks to 2660, voltage is at 1175mv.

I also tried following your MPT settings, 450w, 425tdc and 60soc, hit write, restart system, but my scores just don't improve, I've noticed in the Radeon software my powerlimit is back to 0%.

I'm sure I'm just missing something, should I be using wattman alongside mpt? It's all new to me coming from team Green but I'm keen to see what the card can do.

Ooh, I thought you were getting a Toxic Extreme Edition, not the Limited Edition.

The Limited Edition has a lower clock speed due to the die not being binned like the Extreme Edition, less available voltage for overclocking and lower power limits.

Not to worry though, we can adjust the latter with MPT. It sounds to me like you are power limited and that's why your score is not going up.

Follow my guide here and see if it helps with a higher score.

Think I've managed to sort the issue, using MPT I wasn't aware that I had to select my card from the drop down list, so hitting write wasn't doing anything.
Working now, hitting a wall though at about 2720 core 2100 memory.
