The 'plus' system is such an unbelievably useful addition to the game! I thought it was a bit of a gimmick when I first started playing but I'm using it every single round in every single game.

Lots of stuff for Dice to make improvements on but I do think the foundation of the game is very good - and it's the most fun I've had playing an FPS game in a while.

They are putting in gun charms to grind soon. Who wants that other than 13 year olds?

Personally I don't mind stuff like this if it doesn't alter the gameplay fundamentals - I'm sick of the number of games where a lot of developer time seems to go on these features when they can't even get the basic stuff right though.

Hadn't played this for few weeks and had a few games last night; seemed to be playing fine although weirdly it would put me in a game then try and tell me my ping was 4000 before sorting itself out every time.

Was fine until I was endlessly killed by some bloke sniping through icebergs; getting fed up of the hackers and cheats!

:cry::cry:

This is the kind of crap I remember in Quake Champions. Instead of the developers focusing on the bugs and glitches (which should be top priority than anything else) they were more focused on unicorn hats, love hearts for rockets and rubber ducky cosmetics in a gory arena shooter.

I also remember that scenario. A new gun came out and people managed to glitch shards to obtain it through the store in Quake Champions. It was fixed within 4 hours. Over time they done away with grinding for weapons and cosmetics that you can only buy Platinum with money.

The game breaking bugs however? A lot still exist years later.

Quake Champions was also another that used to have loot boxes. Grinding shards and virtual money to buy them one time. Then done away with.

Been interesting watching some of the behind the scenes with Quake 2 RTX - the developer and 1-2 hardcore contributors have been smashing bugs, even very old id ones.

Some of the long standing bugs in games really aren't hard to fix when you have passionate and dedicated people working on it who have at least some level of freedom to go in fix bugs from time to time.

It's looking go me like they just released a load of crap to get it out the door then have washed their hands of it. Will be interesting to see what happens when they start up after Christmas.

Currently available for £22 on Epic store. I gave it a try when it launched (free 12 hour EA demo or something) and didn't buy it as I found the maps\graphics quite bland, the squad play and matchmaking system poor, lack of joystick support for aircraft, and a load of pointless fluff like the end of round dances by the specialists. Also the bugs.

However for £22 I'm considering it again, thinking that there have been some patches since launch and it might get further developed over the next 6 months and if I get it in my library for a decent price I'll have it there when it's playable.

Any advice, is it anywhere near the game that Battlefield 2 was (that was the last BF game I sank thousands of hours into).

The series has form in starting off ok and then getting better over time IMO so consider it a 12 month investment. As a camping sniper type myself 2042 is pretty good however I can see if you are a gung-ho infantry type the maps are a bit large and open. I am hoping they provide the same level of quality maps over time as they did for example in BF4 - that keeps the game fresh.

Hi there, I am getting about 18fps on BF2042 which is making it unplayable - everything off/low.
I an not expecting much at all with my old rig but am I am being unrealistic that i should be getting a few more FPS or if its just the game being complete dump??

Windows 10
i5 4670 @ 4.4
8GB Corsair Vengeance RAM
2GB Powercooler RX550 1190/1500
Asus Maximus Z87 Impact Mobo
Acer XG270HU 2560 x 1440@144 Hz
Samsung EVO SSD's

Seems a bit low but combination of a 4 core / 4 thread 4000 series Intel and that GPU at 1440p I wouldn't expect to see much more than that when the game is busy.

The game really needs at least 4GB VRAM even with low settings.

Battlefield 2042 is REALLY heavy on the CPU, even on my I7 4790k at 4.8 with an RTX it still chugs at times although playable, I've put in for an upgrade :)

Yours will suffer badly!
