At the moment, I'm trying to prevent the Team OcUK website from dieing for upwards of an hour during SETI@home updates (yes, it does - page load times of 20 minutes plus have been experienced personally).

Jeez, never realised it would put that much strain on things.
I won't pretend to understand these things - is it the bandwidth or the server that gets crippled during these updates?

As for meets, just don't think I'd cope on the BBQ/camping weekend, otherwise I'd be there in a flash. MB-organised events for the w1n. :(
Am really looking forward to the BBQ weekend (flights already booked); went to the Leeds meet in February and had a whale of a time; I plan to go to as many as finances/work allows :D

I'm currently booked for 4 meets so far this year, with more to come no doubt. BBQ meet is the only one I could do but have turned down - but only because I don't think my body would cope with overnight in a tent. :(

I am considering the Newcastle meet, only problem with that is that it is so close to the BBQ and I have already booked holidays for my birthday in July (40th  ).
The BBQ is less than 2 weeks later and due to the nature of my work (offshore), Newcastle may prove tricky :(

OK - I'm removing the entry deadline. We need more people. I can take entries at any time, provided the host was present in the stats as at midnight tonight.

There will be no race stats page until Saturday/Sunday, but this does not affect stats collection, and you can still look up the host stats yourselves. :)

Regrettably R/L commitments over the next few days prevent me committing time to massage any crunchers for optimised crunching. Maybe next time ;)

:( come on everyone, look at the state of our RAC

http://www.teamocuk.com/sallteam.php?p=SAH

Ve vill soon get pwned by the Netherlands if we can't boost our cobbles. And its not just Seti that we are loosing out on either. We are just about to get owned by the germans in Einstein too.. this competition is about boosting the teams output a bit in a fun way :) is there no way we could put a message out to people who may not have read the forum in the last week?

Imagine searching through, copying, and generally tearing to shreds 4Gb worth of data :D

Does it matter which version of Boinc client I am running. Just tried installing 4.25 and I have to uninstall older versions.

Will that then

a: wipe out work in progress and downloaded units
b: change host ID

?

in answer to the host id question i expect it will - i used the same install of Boinc on my main system as i was using a few months back and that set itself up as a new host ID even though i hadn't changed anything :o

i've stuck with 4.19 as i heard it benchmarks higher than 4.25 does :p

Details entered in the other thread.

With re-allocation of projects, one machine is running under a new seti@home host ID (821645). If that is a problem, I may adjust the boinc project %ages on the cpdn-registered machine so that it then does seti@home instead for the crunchathon.

Due to the seti shutdown and now as it must be busy, I have a few workunits in the upload fail and retry loop.

I guess everyone else is in the same boat, but thought I should make it known....

Regarding host 821645, it uploaded a result yesterday, but none of the other machines running that one have, so it still has 0 credits.

I'm still hoping to find some time to do a stats page, but it's looking doubtful right now (due to work). As a temporary measure, here's all the links to the relevant stats pages:

my predictor entry of 78833 should be 95911 , its the same computer but 78833 seems to be its host id upto 22/04/2005 and 95911 is its host id from 22/04/2005 onwards.(I thought it odd that it had done zero credits since the off). If thats my tuff luck for a stupid error then fair enough.

my other predictor machine has twice got itself caught up in a boinc view error that caused boincview to grab and keep 99% of the processor !!! (something worth keeping an eye on) and both my seti entries ran out of seti work during the outage as they point blank refuse to download a real seti cache (I set them doing predictor so they were not slacking) so I seem to have been the kiss of death of my competition entries :(
