Hey there,

Just out of general interest...

What's your job?

Are you happy with your job, is it temporary, what job/career do you aim for?

How much do you earn? (Personal)

Thanks,
Carl

It's pretty good, I quite enjoy coming to work but i'll only stay for 3 or 4 years.

I want to train as a driving instructor.

The salary isn't enough :p

But its always good it gives you a feel for the market and whats about. Where you work is a good one due to regional diffrences

Network rail - track maintanace.
Very happy but depending how it pans out I might have to leave, due to the rubbish pay.
Pay £16,400 basic(thats including this years pay rise which hasn't come though yet) + up2 £1200bonus

Track maintance is a fancy work for shovel technician, which is a fancy word for using a shovel LOL. Hopfully Once I get my lookout and a few other tickets, I want to transfer to ultrasonics or S&T where hopfully I could actually do some technical stuff and use my brain. Also hoping I might get sponsord to do the railway degree, but be a while before I find out.

Am I happy with it? depends what day you ask me. Am in a great position, answering only to the MD, company is going from strength to strength, but money isnt what it should be and there is no investment in the staff.

Am looking to branch out on my own as I truly believe to get anywhere in this life you must be your own boss.

Senior Electronics Engineer for a company specialising in setting up telecomms/satcomms/datacomms/IT/network/entertainment systems/electronic systems on luxury superyachts (35-130m).

Full time employee. Happy? A bit fed up with the travel, and I don't see myself "going anywhere". Am currently starting a hunt for a new job - whether or not in the same career I don't know, I don't feel techy/geeky enough to be a technical person anymore - I prefer getting the junior engineers to do the work for me and getting things done rather than getting my hands dirty :o

I am happy with the choice of doing this job though - it's different, has it's good moments and certainly has got a "wow" factor with some of the locations, yachts and wealth involved in this industry - it's a very niche and privileged market that not even 0.5% of the world's population will ever know about or ever get to experience.

Earnings? Well enough to make ends meet and to go on holidays and buy my "toys". Not enough for me not to worry about being careful with my money.

IT Director for a pan European distributor of electronic components, fibre optics, lasers and that sort of crap.

Full time (and then some!) and happy enough at the moment. Once I stop having to do so much travelling I'll be even happier.

I earn > £50K and < £80K

I'm a "******* lazy, no-good student who needs to get a real job" according to one of the bar regulars where I work when i'm not at uni.

Shame I held a big enough position to not only get him barred for a month but also earn extra money for creating their website, somthing no other person in that place had a clue about doing.

idiots....

Get a job working at a Public school as the IT techy. A friend of mine said it's the best thing that ever happened to him. no one else has a clue about IT so no one can question him and the pay is good too.

Job? Student, just completing my masters in applied mathematics.

Happy? Yes, definitely, I love the course - though exam time is near so the work is piling on.

Aims? To get a research placement and get a PhD - and then who knows?

Earning? I think that £12,500 is the going rate for PhD students. Not much, but I'm very low maintenance.

Job: Technical sales representative

Happy: Yes, some aspects I love, get to travel and stay in many hotels and have nice dinners and lunches. Sometimes being in the office can be slow, like today :o

Money: Is very good for the work load. I have limited stress at the moment and live very close to where i work so no travel expenses

Job? Currently unemployed :D

Happy? Yes I am. Life is good atm. Moving forward on the career side of things.

Aims? Become a Computer Technical Engineer at a leading manufacturer of Industrial pumps. Left my job for the last year to get into an apprenticeship. Dad has been working there for the last 20 years. They treat you well. I hope I pass the selection tests and get in :)

Earnings? Start off £13,400 per year (first year) Somewhere around £18,000 once fully trained. Yearly bonus's and pay increase's after that.

Hopefully this would be for the rest of my life. Get into this industry and never leave, unless Im not happy with it all or family things make me change.

Job:

Business Architect/Enterprise Architect/Senior Change Analyst/Design Authority (Basically doing a lot of jobs under the one role as the company I work for do not actually know what to do) within the Public Sector.

Do I enjoy it:

Yes I do, its a very stimulating job and is constantly changing under my direction. It is very challenging though and some additional training would be nice.

Salary:

£30k at the moment, progression plan to £36k but hoping for a new job at £40k.
