is my spec good enough for 1680x1050 widescreen??

i saw the new nec monitor and it looks ace, i really want it, but my budget wont afford me the monitor AND a gfx upgrade at once.

will my bfg 7600gt run that res(mainly doom3, css, battlefield 2) smoothly.

i always ran my pc with my lcd tv which is 26" and 1280x768 and it ran sweet as a nut on that.

CSS should be fine, doom 3 will struggle and BF2 should be ok.

I run CSS @ 1680x1050, 4xaa, 16af with my 7800GT so 2xaa and 8xAF should work fine on a 7600gt.

i would have thought doom 3 would have been one of the happier games at that res? considering its nvidia and all.

At that resolution without AA, I'd say Doom 3 will be on the edge of being Ok - considering that people have varying levels of what they consider acceptable. Probably a good idea to check out some reviews with actual fps values so you can decide what you'd consider acceptable.

I reckon a x1800xt 256 mb would run all games high settings at that res (well I know i've got that exact combination).
