Need a brand new pc which I'm going to build myself for around 1 grand.

Things I'd like to do with the pc: Video Editing, General Media capabilities, Gaming, Music editing, Web design.

Things I want: Dual core, 300gb + storage (more is better) 1gb ram (pref 2), sli/crossfire capable system (if not with 2 gfx), a monitor, must have firewire, decent case, and to be as quiet as possible, though the spec comes first.

I need a monitor in the price, though I have keyboard, mouse, and operating system

I've never overclocked before, but it'd be nice if the components gave me some room to do that. I don't plan on overclocking the 70 quid pentium D to 4 ghz :p

Thanks

You could get a lower spec GFX card maybe... depends how strict your budget is.

If you drop siriu's B's case to a PC7+ and swap the motherboard for a better one its a very powerful setup. Worth the extra £121 is debatable.

Well as I said, monitor was an after thought hence 100 quid over budget. Agree with case and going for a better mobo but its still over budget.

Cheaper/less RAM perhaps?

Silverstone Temjin TJ01 - Silver (No PSU) (CA-000-SV)
Price: £46.95 (£55.17 Including VAT at 17.5%)

I'd prefer that case for style, any problems with substituing it?

How much video editing do you do, the reason for asking is that a TFT monitor that is both good for video and for gaming will be quite a bit more expensive as a P-MVA panel would be preferable to the TN Panel you will get in cheaper monitors.

A good all round P-MVA panel will cost around £300 and will drastically effect budget and in fact the cost of a 20" widescreen version is hardly any different. One of these 2 would be good:

MO-045-VS Viewsonic VP930 19" LCD Monitor - Black/Silver (MO-045-VS) £264.95 £264.95
MO-052-VS Viewsonic VX2025 20" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Silver/Black (MO-052-VS) £269.95 £269.95

With the monitor aside, and dual core in mind, this is what I would reccomend:

CP-152-AM AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+ (Socket 939) - OEM (CP-152-AM) £157.95 £157.95

MB-000-BG BFG RNF4U nForce4 Ultra (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard (MB-000-BG) £59.95 £59.95

FG-000-AR Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 754/939/940) (FG-000-AR) £14.49 £14.49

MY-046-GL GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC3200 Value Dual Channel Kit CAS3 (GE2GB3200BDC) (MY-046-GL) £101.95 £101.95

GX-121-SP Sapphire ATI Radeon X1800 XT 256MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-121-SP) £149.95 £149.95

HD-070-WD Western Digital Caviar SE16 320GB 3200KS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (HD-070-WD) £69.95 £69.95

CD-033-NE NEC ND4571 16x16 DVD±RW Dual Layer LabelFlash ReWriter (Black) - OEM (CD-033-NE) £24.95 £24.95

CA-040-AN Antec Sonata II Piano Black Quiet Case - 450W Smart Power PSU (CA-040-AN) £61.95 £61.95

Subtotal £641.14
Shipping (City Link Parcel Next Day (Delivered Mon-Fri)) £9.95
VAT £113.95
Total £765.04

IMO the WD drive would be better than the Seagate. Contrary to what others may tell you, 450w PSU will be adequate for that system.

Get the PC7+ a much much better case. The silverstone has some problems and to be honest is quite bad.

Trust me on this one :)

EDIT- Oh and thanks sirius B!
