How do i calculate raid 5 out by hand not using any raid calculator if possible or any body knows?

Well to work out the available capacity it is;
(Size of Smallest Drive) * (Number of Drives - 1)

yer, basically all the drives capacities added up, take away 1 drive for parity as the dude above said, but make sure all the drives are the same size or it just doesnt work so good ;( (takes on size of smallest hd)
