Well my iron just fell apart literally.

I was just going to buy the cheapest iron i could find. Then i thought about consulting OcUK, so here are a few questions:
  • Should i look at spending a little more money on my next iron?
  • Are there any special features i should pay over the odds for?
  • Roughtly how much am i looking at, a quick froogle shows i can get an iron for sub £20 :D

Danke!

//Edit: 10 minutes to edit my title, you're getting slow Octadon ;)

I've spent £50 on mine and would have spent more but I was broke. I like having well ironed clothes so an irons with a good base and that outputs a lot of steam was a must.

Also, it's pointless spending money on a good iron if you've got a crappy ironing board!
Thats a good point, any suggestions?
I'm assuming i should steer clearl of the JML super cloth? :p

Those steam generator irons looks pretty good actually. Like the ones here.

Oops :o

Should prob remove the link mate, as its a competitor (that I happen to work for :p) But yeah, those are the ones I'm talking about. Very very good. Can't go back to a normal iron after using one of those. You have to use one to feel the difference though.

Broad irons are good for shirts and the like. Can't really recommend anything though, I've got this here, it's a good sturdy board - but the padding is a bit thin and needs to be changed - I've had it for a year so am a bit disappoitned with it.

If you can afford a steam generated and have the space for it then go for it, I don't think there is much that can beat it - although I believe there are some types of clothes that you shouldn't use steam for.

I'm guessing if need be though i could just turn the steam off? :)

You see once again OcUK have made me part with a little more money than i would have, hopefully for the better!
