Ok, please, lets hear your arguments...

33 1/3 x 3 DOES equal 100

but 33.333... etc x 3 does NOT equal 100 because it is impossible to represent 1/3 exactly as a decimal.

This has just got me thinking now? What is the definition of a 1/3? If you bought a 1/3 of a pie and they only gave you 33.333% of the pie.....would you go to trading standards?

If I asked for 1/3 of a pie and they only gave me 33.3333% I would go to trading standards.

If they gave me 33.3r% of a pie, I wouldn't.

Why do people always look to decimals when fractions are there to allow you to write any rational number?
