pug 306 advice

been looking at a few pug 306 1.6 merdian

at first glance, very nice body work etc

then i open the bonet and found VERY rusty rocker cover, and almost rusted right thru

the aircon hasnt worked on any ive looked at aswell

these where X,Y reg with 50 to 60 on the clock

are they all this bad?

1.6 8v 90bhp?

my W reg 206 looks fine under the bonnet, and its done 40k

I had a W reg 1.6 Meridian. Air con failure is common on all 306s. There's a metal pipe that runs along the bottom of the radiator which rusts through. When that happens the coolant leaks out. If you're buying from a dealer I'd get them to fix it before you buy as they are expensive.

this was X reges 1.6 8v 100bhp same as the saxo vtr engine

Thought you had a Mondeo? A 306 will be a bit of a downgrade really. Lot of cash for not much car.

The ECU's are also a main problem. Personally I'd recommend you go for the TD or the HDI version.

not for me for my bro. i think he might give the whole pug idea a miss unless he can find a decent HDI
