personally i always do IDE1 set the cd drive to master...
just habbit i suppose... couldn't imagine it creating a problem though since Serial ATA drives run on their own channels anyway :)

can't wait for SATA optical drives to become a bit more mainstream, we saw a few (read: one or two) SATA opticals last year, but nothing much came of them :(

I thought SATA optical drives were still rare and expensive?

It's about time Pioneer got on board with SATA though. 16X DVD writing does somewhat cry out for SATA support.

But whats the point in sata optical drives? Data transfer in an ide cable is slower but its still a hell of a lot faster than drives can read and write and so only advantage is sata cables are thinner but then your using sata ports rather than an ide port which nowadays are rarely used for harddrives
