Its a shame for such a good keeper :(

Everton goalkeeper Nigel Martyn has been forced to retire from the game because of a persistent ankle injury.
The 39-year-old former England international has been sidelined since January with a stress fracture.

A damn shame. Moyes has called him his greatest signing as a manager, and I wouldn't disagree. Even at his age he was still out-performing the majority of goalkeepers in the Prem, and was a key figure when we finished 4th a year ago. He'll be missed at Goodison, a model professional without doubt.,

I'm back baby!
Shame he had to retire through injury. He could still do a job.

Remember him at his height when he played for Leeds. he was absolutely amazing. Should have had far more England caps than he did, he outperformed Seaman for a very long time and didn't really get a chance. Any other time he'd have been nailed on number 1.

That is a shame, one of the best goalkeepers in the PL for more than a decade. He didn't win any honours did he? Except a runners up medal in the FA cup. If he didn't, it's a real shame.

At least Everton have the amazing Tim "Tourette's" Howard on a season long loan.

You mean Tim "*******" Howard. ;) ****!! ****!! *******!!! Damn!!

Martyn was an excellent keeper, he really should had more caps for England. A real asset to any team, it's a real shame injury has forced him into retirement, he could have went on for as long as he liked.
