I want to backup to DVD once a week. Machine will have two DVD-RW drives in.

I want to backup to both at the same time, I guess like a SCSI drive.

Anyone got suggestions on how to achieve this?

best way for home users to backup (imo)

is synctoy + usb2 external hard drive

Thanks Bledd, should have added though, this is a mini server running RAID 1

The once a week DVD faff is purely an offsite storage

do you want it to be unattended? (ie, you leave a dvdr in the drive and it automatically backups up specific files/folders to the drive?)

is it a lot of data? (ie, would compressing it into a 7zip file first be needed?)

http://www.7-zip.org/download.html (freeware)
7-zip command line version

http://www.commandburner.com/ (freeware)
(usage here http://www.commandburner.com/docs.html )

you can put together a bat file to get 7za.exe to compress the directory(s) and save in one file, then get commandburner to burn it to disc straight after, then you'd use windows task scheduler to schedule the weekly / daily backup

Ideally, yes or at least to take place at 4pm on a Friday afternoon.

It will need to be compressed first I should imagine

Thanks for the links.

Is there a way to get it to dual copy to DVD at the same time?

Reason I ask is that two managers would like a weekly copy so that if one of them lost a disc AND something happened at the office, there would still be another disc.

Just tell commandburner to burn to one drive first, then burn again to the second drive. For the sake of 8 extra minutes (at 8x), it's what I'd do for an automated backup.
