IS a battery Eater ?

The 17-55 is the first IS lens I have had and noticed that battery usage has gone up a fair amount, I'm getting a few days of shooting out of one charge with moderate IS use as opposed to a whole week going on 2 weeks with no IS, anyone else find this?

I've ordered a 1500mAh battery to see how long that lasts (this one is 900mAh)

Never realised IS could use so much battery

Im getting the 70-300 USM IS, im buying two Anismann batteries for my 350D tho so should keep me going long enough to fill the 3.5gb of cards

they do use the battery up a bit more but just get a few batteries and you'll have no worries

me neither tbh, but i have always had a battery grip on my camera and with two batteries is lasts for ages!!

I have noticed little battery life problems but I have to say you are using a low power battery Rob.

My Canon one is a 1390mAh and my Hans are 1500 mAh

Battery life was never a prob for me. I have 6.

350D comes with a 750 as standard and I bought a 900 ages ago so that may explain why! the 1500 if it does indeed last a whole weeks worth of IS usage then I will buy another and be done with that

I'm wondering this myself as I've just got the 70-300IS, I guess though 2 OEM batteries for a 400D can be had for £10 of fleabay so its not too much of a worry.
