This is a sticky for all the spare computer and cruncher related parts you have kicking around the house and no longer require.

As has been requested by several members of The World's Finest Team™ I present you with a sticky in which you can list all the spare computer parts you have lying around at home and wish to go to a cruncher that will use it for the cause.

There are a few rules to this here sticky;
  1. Selling of hardware is strictly forbidden here. Use the For Sale forum for that.
  2. Only computer items are to be listed.
  3. It is respectfully requested that those wishing to be given the item use it for the purpose in which it was given, ie for Distributing Computing projects and for Team OcUK.
  4. Only post in here what you have to offer, with an email address in the post. If you desire that item then mail the person, DO NOT post. Lets keep this thread tidy.
  5. When you no longer have an item for offer please delete it from your list. When ALL your items have been dished out edit your post and change it to 'DELETE'. A periodic clean-up of old posts will be done.
  6. This sticky is strictly for the use of people who wish to give their spare bits to others at no cost (except for P+P), any flouting of this WILL lead to a suspension of their account.
  7. Please do not ask for stuff that isn't needed to make a cruncher work. For example, a sound card is hardly essential to the workings of a dedicated cruncher!
  8. These rules ARE NOT all encompassing
  9. Be sensible please ;)

Wanted a good (F@) Home for a P4 2.8GHz CPU

I have a spare CPU which has a slight problem.
The problem in no way effects its performance.
The IHS on this CPU was dished, so it used to run quite hot.
I have sanded down and polished the IHS, so it is flat, this has made a dramatic difference in temps.
There are some surface scratches on the IHS but they are very slight and the thermal compound easily fills them.

The CPU is a P4 2.8GHz Northwood purchased on the 22-05-04.
It will run at 3.6GHz with just a little extra over default v.core 24-7, 365 days a year no problems.

This CPU is free and I will pay for the P&P.
My email is in my trust.
Tom :)

Edit: The P4 CPU has been claimed.

M/board & CPU & Ram

Probably a bit slow, but can still crunch and someone may want it.

One Asus A7N8X Motherboard with drivers disk and I/O sheild, and one AMD Athlon XP 2500+ Barton (in mint condition) multi-unlocked.
Also 512MB (2x512) TwinMOS Twister PC4000.
There is no way the ram will run at 250MHz on the board, but up to 220MHz it will run very tight timings.

I will pay the P&P.
Email me with your address and lll send it out to you.
Email in trust.

Tom. :)

Just a note that these will probably cost to much to run folding for virtually no points. :)

EDIT: All gone pending me posting it.

MSI 6600gt IIRC - broken in that it doens't think it gets enough power to run properly. Still provides a display without issues.

805D - doesn't clock well and is a bit broken - needs many reboots to get going but once it has loaded it works fine. Most I got out of it was 3.4GHz (I think...)

e-mail is in trust.

Ive got 5 brand new dell 17 inch CRTs, still boxed, unused.

They were ordered by mistake for work (instead of TFTs!) and Dell dont want them back AND we didnt have to pay for them!!!

If you want one or more, youll have to pick them up from Cambridge!
