Darn, apparently an attempt to be clever and changing credit card billing address to office address isn't enough..

What's Brexit got to do with someone from Finland buying a card from Germany? Of course they can use that as an excuse as technically it's against the internal market rules but just imagine the botfest you'd run into if everyone in EU could jump on those FR/GE/NL drops, that's like 450 million...

Does anyone know if you can buy those NL/GE drops from any EU country? I know someone in Finland who could purchase one for me but no drops in the Nordic countries.

Oh, they are greedy all right, looking at 3080ti MSRP. why sell a card to plebs at £649 when you can ask £400 more and it'll still get snagged up post haste. I'd expect FE 3080 Super to cost at least £899 if not more.

If you check the thread backwards, people always say that .. until the next 3080 drop. And then they say again this was the last one. We'll see when we'll see. Last 3080 drop was in EU 2 weeks ago. I've been holding out for 3080, last time it dropped I had it in my shopping basket but screwed...

3080 FE Thermal Pad change: Mem Temps still 100c!! Help!

Measuring the original pads is not that straightforward as they've been compressed, you're measuring the target thickness, not so much the original sheet thickness. If you have a section that's clearly hanging off the chip by more than one or two mm and thus not having been compressed at all, ...

3080 FE Thermal Pad change: Mem Temps still 100c!! Help!

Yes, generally you don't want the pads to be thick. That's probably why you guys are seeing overheating problems with the memory chips, 1.5mm or 0.07" is quite thick already, normally these things are more like 0.2mm or something to that effect. They are used as silicon paste replacement as they...

3080 FE Thermal Pad change: Mem Temps still 100c!! Help!

As an electronics engineer, this business of applying big thick blob of paste on the GPU makes me cringe inside but what it's doing is giving you (obviously!) extra thickness between the GPU core and the heatsink. Hence a pad that's bit too thick may work OK since the GPU heatsink is "floating"...

It's actually superior to Whatsapp, Telegram is not tied to your phone number so you can run it on your laptop, desktop PC, tablet.. Just to make sure you get that ping on whatever device is closest.

And they make you play on Ironman, if the payment doesn't go through, thanks for playing, we deleted your shopping basket for you. Not like anyone had another credit card or something.

I had the mythical 3080 FE on shopping basket, passed verification on mobile bank app .. and we cannot process your payment, ha-ha! And helpfully deleted the shopping basket so no trying again to sort the problem, bleep bleep bleepety bleep. Next opportunity after n weeks and some 30 seconds...

The Great GPU shortage isn't ending anytime soon

18 months is probably doable for mature processes e.g. 28nm, big boys have already made decisions earlier this year to increase capacity for that and e.g. SMIC announced just now its building a big new fab in China for 28nm. Maybe not "of interest" in GPU forum except that many control chips...

Intel demos XeSS super resolution -open-AI-AMD/Nvidia can use it

Nvidia adopted Freesync, although they call it "Gsync Compatible" so that's a pretty popular technology, no need to pay GSYNC tax on displays anymore.

I used Port Royale as apparently RTX cores are somewhat more sensitive. Cyberpunk is good for hammering GPU too ;-) In any case, if you don't do the OC scan, you can always reset the curve to default if you mess up. One thing the OC scan woul be useful for is that you should (at least...

So, yes, after another look at the Afterburner curve editor, without doing the long OC scan, I had success as well. The key bit that was bothering me before was how to flatten the rest of the curve from your max voltage/clock position, without having to fiddle with each dot one by one. The...

    30xx Series Founders Edition

Yes, that GDDR6x doesn't do much for 3070 ti except pump power consumption up. I'm sure it'd give you a big boost on hashrate if it wasn't limited. So they made a miner's edition of 3070 and gimped mining on it

    30xx Series Founders Edition

Maybe that was my mistake, I did the curve scan and wanted to cap it (according to some guide) but that doesn't work too well, as you can't save/restore the original curve etc. I guess on an empty curve you just have to set the voltage/frequency point you want. I'll check that out, thx.
  19. Barleyman

    30xx Series Founders Edition

Yes, you can kind of do it, but if you make a mistake, there's not much in the way of undo and as soon as you commit a spot as the power cap, you can't go back without doing the whole curve scanning process again. Limiting the power target to 80% or something achieves the same far easier.

If you have the option, yes. 3070 ti gives you 3-5% more FPS and 100W more power drain, not a good trade-off. Admittedly it's probably the easiest FE card to get since it's the worst deal (IMO). Phone goes beep beep, you grab it from the desk and do the purchase process directly on the phone...
