What retro things have you done today?

Normally they're pretty expensive and quite rare, certainly here in the UK. This is an import from the US

What retro things have you done today?

Upgraded my SGI Octane with a new graphics board. It can now run a 1920x1200 desktop. 3D performance is 3x the original MXI board

Do you care for Ray Tracing "now"?

I voted yes; I like it, it looks great when implimented well, and it reminds me of the good old days of gpu improvements that added extra stuff rather than just more fps. I only have a 1440p monitor for my main display so a 3080 plus ray tracing plus DLSS (when necessary) still provides good...

Skip 4000 series wait for 5000 series?

I'll probably stick with the 3080 and skip the 4000 series. Plenty of power in the 3080 for what I use it for, and there's every chance my 750W psu wont be up to the task for the 4070Ti / 4080 or whatever. So skip 4000, think about a system update once Zen 4 has been out for a while (or the...

That Parceiro board does look great. Another option is the icomp aca500plus as this reportedly works on the A1000 too. The list of features this board has is amazing.

Amiga CD32 - VGA Monitor Options?

A gbs8200 modded with gbs-control would be a cheap option, does vga out. An Ossc would be superb too but a bit more expensive. You’d need an hdmi to vga converter though

    Commodore Amiga owners thread!

C= really should have equipped the 1200 with 1MB of fast ram, it would’ve doubled the performance. But they wanted to save money and shout about 2MB chip ram instead. 1MB chip and 1MB fast ram out of the box would’ve worked better, with a cheap 1MB chip upgrade available through the clockport...

    Commodore Amiga owners thread!

Oh wow! a 1000 is one I’ve always wanted but never managed to get hold of! Dust it off and give it a whirl - no batteries in those and it’s one where there’s a good chance caps won’t have leaked. You can use a cheap scandoubler like a gbs8200 to get a picture out of it, or an OSSC, or even a...

Your GPU history tree and potential next card

yup, the ST and then the Amiga were the stuff a kid dreamed about in the late eighties. I was also bowled over by the Acorn Archimedes (especially the A3000 in ‘89) and it’s Lander demo in 1987. As amazing as later Amiga games plus the MD and SNES were, I don’t think I was quite as wowed again...
