I went with Ryzen in the end for a few reason
Easy upgrade path, solder rather then tooth paste, supporting AMD to keep things competitive in a hobby I love. Gaming performance too close to care.
So how does the single core boast work? I thought it was just for single thread. But say I'm running bf1 is that classed as lightly threaded? And what does lightly threaded mean? That one core is stacked and just little bits off loaded to the rest?

Just ordered a hero and 2700x. Coming tomorrow.
I like both giga and Asus but my last giga board had a weird issue with not being able to be put in sleep mode. And I've gone off the crazy rbg direction they've gone in.
I'm looking for same advice really. In leaning towards Ryzen as come next year dropping in the next Ryzen would be a very simple upgrade where as the 8700k would require new mobo
