Im simply explaining why we're powerless to do anything about it. It's not about liability but rather an explanation as to why "apple didn't wanna do anything about it". The contract stops pretty much anyone from being actually able to do anything about it.
I had no idea they were used as...
12.9" boxes are used for almost all modern models on return so dont read too much into it.
Odd about Ireland. Your in midlands right? I guess they finally separated the mail from store and mail from home repair centres as they were always the same locations
Few things. Re: Packaging, thats just a generic box that all iPad Depot repair devices are sent back in.
Re: damage/customer service. Mail in repairs are not handled by Apple but a third party contract by a company outside of Tamworth (cant disclose the name, for obvious reason). Apple Care /...
Used to be a thing but WhatsApp many moons ago switched from internal backups to gdrive and iCloud.
Both cloud services can be accessed easily on both platforms so ultimately the only thing preventing it is WhatsApp itself for some reason
This is probably gonna be the answer.
There is a chance of a hardware fault (watch faults cause all sorts of generic messages with pairing). Apple support can arrange a mail in software support case and send it back free if it doesn’t work
Just note it’s not a battery but rather iPad swap for a battery cost (as long as the battery is consumed as per apple diagnostics)
And being an Air 2 almost certainly will need to be ordered in
Someone needs to read into how consumer rights works (spoiler: it’s not a 6 year warranty) as well as JL’s terms and conditions for the second year of coverage
The store will probably do it, but honestly it’s not worth the money for a phone of this age.
Just get a Apple refurbished XR instead
Sent you a trust message btw
Apple don’t replace the rear housing. If a device is sent to an Aasp or aarc the phone is replaced for rear damage - exception being 12 and 13 series phones where the display and camera is salvaged onto a new phone body.
Interesting.
The power button is mechanical - and everything to do with it is basically boxed away from anything Apple would touch when doing a battery repair so yes it’s pretty much impossible they damaged it. But also curious as to how it suddenly stopped working.
When you claimed was it...
The diagnostics don’t test physical buttons as .. well .. it’s a physical button. Well tell a lie it does test for power to the button.
The Terms and Conditions explain re: third party components. No one reads them however (so I do make a point of explaining the risks if I can validate...
It’s probably just in need of a good clean (tell tale is how it’s got quieter over time)
as for your rights - these are applicable to the original place of purchase.
If your OOW with apple and a clean doesn’t fix it they will replace the screen for £189.
There won’t be a discount offered as...
Booking an appointment for service isn’t the same as making the company aware of an intention to make a claim.
Intention to make a claim would be calling Apple care and arranging for service on the device - like how any normal insurance policy works
The issue in this instance was that prices are set at the time service is created, not when the Appt is booked.
The technician got confused because systematically it wouldn’t show them you even had Apple care plus as it’s now expired - without digging deeper.
Legal T&C’s state the policy is...
