I've completed the campaign and not came across the Wasp yet. Is it just unlockable at the FOB bases?

Have they patched the "no spawn as passenger" issue? I'm sure I read on consoles you cant spawn as a passenger, but it works on PC.

Im pretty sure the opening sequences are it for the game, the rest is open world. But i've stayed away from reviews so not 100% sure. Really enjoyed the first two sections - just seemed really Halo to me. Looking forward to exploring the area later
