    Cost of Living Crisis

I'm not in London though. Brighton has almost London prices and average wages.

    Cost of Living Crisis

The issue is getting a mortgage when the cost of living is so high. The cheapest one bed flat here is £190,000. I would need to save a £50-60,000 down payment to get a mortgage on it. It's impossible to really do that when so much of your income is gone before you even see it.

    Cost of Living Crisis

In the North? I'm always a bit meh about the earnings difference between North and South because the CoL is so much higher here that any additional earnings don't really count. Most people down south, outside of London, are probably worse off than most up North in terms of spare cash...

    Cost of Living Crisis

We pay just over £1000 for a 1960s 2 bed flat that is in need of major renovation. It's probably the cheapest 2 bed flat in a 10 mile radius :p Add council tax, gas, electric, phone, internet and water and it's pushing £1500 a month.

The next Predator movie - Prey (2022 on Hulu)

This is true. However, Dan Trachtenberg is very promising. I used to watch his stuff when he was a YouTuber and what he/they were able to do with zero budget was very impressive. He's the only reason I expect this to be pretty good.

Pay Mcdonald's, mostly. A franchise can cost up to £2,000,000. They often don't pay that up front.

25% of £17 is £4.25. So close enough. The claim comes from me being a professional chef and knowing how much things cost, at a supply level. Cheese Burger - 2*4oz patties, cheese, bun plus condiments. Beef - 250g £1.20 Bun - £0.25p Cheese - £0.20p Mayo/Ketchup etc. £0.08 Pickles £0.05...

Takeaway / fast food general discussion

This is how much a burger, fries and milkshake should cost if everything is properly sourced and the employees are fairly paid. I know people think "but it's only £3-4 of ingredients", but that's the point. The raw ingredients should only be 20-25% of the total cost. It's everything else that...

Yeah, gotta be careful as people can be finicky. The biggest thing you can get away with having bones is whitebait, which is actually one of the dishes this Friday with a chilli jam aioli. 100% recommend making the aioli, it's awesome with anything fried.

Hah, that's fair. I wasn't quite going for authentic though. We're doing "Fish Fridays" at work atm, doing 5 different fish-based specials each week and having 6-7 portions of each. When they sell out they don't come back. I wanted to see how easy it would be to completely debone it, customers...

    Abortion, Roe v. Wade

They should have the autonomy to have the baby removed by induced labour or caesarian after the point of viability if they no longer wish to carry the baby. In the same vein, if you're pro-life then the fetus is a citizen and benefits should start at the point of conception, maternity grants...

I'm guessing you haven't actually put much thought into it, here is why someone may not be able to afford to cook but can nuke a ready meal: An average microwave is about 1200w and a ready meal will take about 4 minutes to cook/heat. That's 0.08 kw/h, at 30p per kw/h it would cost 3 pence. An...

I tried the Three 4/5g home broadband and it was complete dog doodoo. Way worse than my 70mbit fibre connection or 4G on my phone. When I called to cancel, citing failure to meet their promised performance etc. it took two hours of arguing, and then they tried to charge me the remaining 23...
