    Tidy storage & drying solutions...

That's amazingly kind of you, but flog it and get a few quid back for yourself, thanks so much though! I can understand if you're printing with tens of different colours and not using them for years but in a centrally heated house I didn't imagine it'd make a massive difference.

    Tidy storage & drying solutions...

I have wondered when looking at the results of people's experiments whether there is an aspect of snake oil about them hence me asking!

Your most useful, and useless prints?

They're amazing tools to have, but we all must have hit a wall and suddenly run out of things to print! What would you consider your most useful print? What would you consider your most useless, but favourite print?

    Tidy storage & drying solutions...

Like most I've ended up with a handful of spools I'll take a good while to get through and at the minute, I'm not really storing them properly. Seen the usual vac bags etc but I'm contemplating just getting a dryer, as with everything in the hobby they seem to range from crazily pointless to...

    Random 3D printing chatter

Received a CR-6 SE today on your recommendation @ChrisLX200 , not ready to set it up yet but looking forward to it. Know there have been issues with the firmware and that so not sure whether to go straight to a community one and learn from there or not?

They're looking hard to come by at the moment under £380 @ChrisLX200 - found one for £300 but wasn't sure of the supplier

    Random 3D printing chatter

@ChrisLX200 how did you find the CR-6 SE out of the box. I keep flipping between an ender 3 V2, ender 5 and CR-6 SE. The auto bed leveling is a must for me so I'm wondering if spending that little bit more from the off and not messing with the BL levelling sensors would be a good idea?

    Random 3D printing chatter

I'd assumed PLA in all honesty, but it's a completely new thing to me, every days a school day!

    Random 3D printing chatter

@Scougar I was considering a 5 but dropped back again due to physical size. Budget wise I was trying to keep it under £250. Requirements, ultimately it'll be more of a tool than a hobby, printing project cases for things, random bits etc.

    Random 3D printing chatter

Does anyone have experience of the Ender 3 Max? I've basically settled on an ender model due to community support, parts availability etc. and I'd settled on a max due to print space and the metal extruder already included. I was going to also add and auto bed levelling setup to this out of...

    Soldering iron vs station

I'm in the market for the first time in years for an iron and a separate heat station. All I can say, is unless you're spending serious money and going branded with Weller etc. it's near impossible to make a decision. I'm allowing myself got around £80-120 to play with at the moment, and even...

    Repurpose "EOL" QNAP Devices

Yeah both of my models don't have HDMI, I did manage to get a serial connection on the older one though with jumpers direct on the board. Will keep looking into it though as it is a frustration!

    Repurpose "EOL" QNAP Devices

So hardware wise I've always sworn by QNAP, but over the years I've become increasingly frustrated with their policy on security updates and when they consider a device to be EOL when the hardware is still very much capable. I get the technical reasoning behind it, and business reasoning, but...

    Low profile i5-7500 cooler

It's a generic thing from a competitor years ago, not even mine like I say. I whacked a cooler master evo on it today, and discovered the main problem, the Arctic hadn't clamped down properly, hence the temps. Been running it flat out playing FIFA games all night and it's hitting 62c which...

    Low profile i5-7500 cooler

Thanks @doyll, you're made some very valid points. The case in all honesty isn't great, it's a small to mid generic tower at best with limited space which won't be helping. When I was testing with and without the side on under full load, I was getting closer to an acceptable (not ideal) 85c...

    Low profile i5-7500 cooler

So the two suggested by mickyflinn look like decent coolers, but they've got too big of a footprint width wise really. I'll get the tape measure out in the morning, but I'm thinking something with a plate then heatpipes to clear the board and memory modules. Something similar to the coolmaster...

    Low profile i5-7500 cooler

I've ended up dropping an i5-7500 95w processor into an older unit that has an arctic 11 pro rev.2 in it. Great little cooler but I wouldn't mind things running cooler, hitting 90c after an hour occt extreme. Any recommendations? Sadly, I've not got a huge amount of height to play with, but...

    Router recommendations for FTTP?

It's not range that's the problem, prior to moving over to FTTP these sorts of uploads weren't a problem, half the upstream so you may be right. I'll get it hooked up to prove that though before pfsense, I suspect it'll handle things better but we'll see! Edit - If all fails, am I looking at...

    Router recommendations for FTTP?

Remember being interested with PFSense a few years back but never got around to it, hadn't even considered it in this scenario. Thanks @Armageus it'll at least prove that it's where the problem sits on the cheap. My wife logged a fault about it a few weeks back (without me knowing!) so we had...
