Cheers. I just fancied getting back into a few classic games I used to play and I'm only on 1080p/60fps so didn't really need an all singing and dancing bleeding edge, and used cards are daft money.
@ScottiB Can I ask what the stock situation is on GPUs for plebs like me? Pre unavailability I was eyeing up a 1660 Super, I only see mention of current 3000 series and the like, what is the situation with lower spec cards?
Cheers
I repair commercial appliances for a living, the cost of parts and labour can be extortionate even for really small/seemingly minor items. When you start getting to the big stuff like PCBs etc. you're talking up to 50% the cost of the appliance, and we're talking stuff that costs multi £k to...
Yes but how many actually are repairable? This is what should hopefully change, the availability of parts to allow economical repairs. There is obviously a problem otherwise we wouldn't need legislation to encourage it.
I may be wrong, but I assumed it was from the POV of paying to have it repaired again becoming viable like the good old days, rather than just binning it and buying another.
I don't think they're encouraging a load of ham fisted desk jockeys to go opening up electronics and poking it with a...
lol dream on, they'll just mine any of the other profitable coins instead. Nothing will change until the end of the bull market, and even then many continue to mine to accumulate for the next cycle.
I'd like a bigger phone and the stylus appeals, but I don't fancy stumping up for the latest Note so are the 10/10+ still a viable option? If not any alternatives?
Cheers
Maybe this episode will reset the mind set of those who need to have a new GPU every 6 months when a new one comes out, go back to how things used to be a bit and get your money's worth out of the one you have.
As the saying goes, "Nothing is so permanent as a temporary program"
The world financial situation is in the toilet and will be for years, UK wise we have the Brexit mess and Covid to clear up, if people think £300 GPUs are around the corner then frankly I think they're living in cloud cuckoo land.
Idiots, obviously. Just wanting to jump on the bandwagon without realising they'll not earn any money.
Those 1070s were bought at the beginning and bang in the middle of the last mining rush all for the same price, I think they briefly went up to £300 for top AIB cards but cheap Zotacs were...
I'd be surprised if mining is causing much of the shortage. Even during the last proper mining boom in 2017 when it was actually possible to make decent money, I could still buy plenty of 1070s for £230-240 (XX70 card for £230 eh, those were the days)
There's no way a UK hobby miner is paying...
I was looking for a 1660 Super, there are now a few available in various places but they're only the little crappy single fan SFF version which isn't what I want. Plus they're a bit steep.
Covid and Brexit tag team = Hyperinflation! A GPU will soon cost the same as a new car.
I was only looking for a 1660 Super and there isn't even any of those, so no, I'm not bothered any more.
