I think what you're seeing are just the casual/bedroom miners panic selling. They were mostly late to the party and I bet most hadn't even cleared 50% ROI. Those who were a bit earlier and have cleared costs will probably stick it out, which is what I'll probably do.

Presumably cheap tyres are just crap, not illegal. If they have the required tread then it doesn't matter if they're Michelins or ditchfinders, they're legal.
