Just an update..
It took them this long to accept the RMA, but they are giving me a shipping label. Some measure of faith in Corsair has been...
Well... Won't be buying another Corsair PSU that's for sure.
I have already been through the rma process with Corsair a few years ago and I wasn't impressed because I had to front the sizeable postage cost...
So I ordered some thermal paste and it arrived with a packet of Haribo cola bottles along with the TIM. :D
How many posts do you need?
Do OCUK still do free delivery if you have a certain post count?
Ask Logitech and OcUk..
Had to RMA a PSU recently to their place in Holland, cheapest couriers I could find were these guys: http://www.parcelsplease.co.uk/
Yes, because that is when all the reviews were made - when it was released. Besides, drivers don't work miracles; the 4870 is just a faster card....
That 5770 costs ~£50 more than a 4870, yet is slower. To buy it would be illogical to say the least....
Second hand XFX 1GB 4870 or 4890
Don't rule out the 4870, which is faster than the 5770 and cheaper. You can pick one up for ~£100 if you shop around or get a second hand XFX one...
Sell the 280. Xfire 5870s is already major overkill for most if not all purposes
Custom WC or high end AC
Look into SSDs. That will speed things up
More than enough, in fact if you haven't bought it get a HX 750 instead.
i7 is wasteful for your purposes. i5 is fine
