To me is a fail to some extent, my 3 years old 45nm C0/C1 I7 920 can do 4.5GHz at 1.45v. This has to do at least 5.0GHz, mainly because there is no hyperthreading holding it off. I said to some extent because this is no high end so I would not expect much. For Lynnfield users this is a great...

Lower latency is always better especially if used with the Intel Core ix series. I certainly would get the vipers. Price difference for 8GB is not really that far out however higher density would benefit you more than a lower latency. It's a hard decision. Good luck.

Getting 12GB of ram has the benefit of disabling the pagefile :p
