    31.5" 2560x1440 165 Hz VA G-Sync - LG 32GK850G

That's good to hear, panel lottery doesn't seem to be too bad with this monitor. Have you tried testing brightness/uniformity and contrast ratio again with your new monitor? I only ask since, particularly for brightness, you said your previous one was fairly low.

First impressions & Teardown: Acer Revo RL70 AMD Sff System

I suspected that was the case, it'd be dumb for there not to be a model where no remote was included. How much did you pay for it? Must be in the region of £350. I have no experience with 2 separate tuners, but as far as I know, Windows Media Centre does support multiple tuners so I...

First impressions & Teardown: Acer Revo RL70 AMD Sff System

That's great to hear :D What are you using to view the TV channels? Windows Media Center? It's somewhat of a shame the 290e isn't a dual tuner. I've spent the past few days setting up XBMC with my RL70. I had a bit of a pain getting my MCE Remote to work with Eventghost, turns out I needed to...

First impressions & Teardown: Acer Revo RL70 AMD Sff System

I knew about the PCTV 290e having a PIN adapter, but it never dawned on me the wear and tear issues. I guess, if you don't move the aerial or unit often, it's less of an issue? Anyway, I for one would be interested in a review of your experiences with the PCTV 290e and RL70, I was considering...

First impressions & Teardown: Acer Revo RL70 AMD Sff System

I have a feeling only the very top end model, the one with the Blu-ray, comes with a remote and built in TV Tuner. I can't answer any of your questions, IXL, as I know nothing about soldering or fitting a card into a pre-built machine, but I'd say it'd be far far less hassle to just buy a USB...

First impressions & Teardown: Acer Revo RL70 AMD Sff System

I'm not a regular user either, but I can see a "Send Private Message" link on the right hand side of his profile page once logged in. XP probably didn't pick it up, but in Windows 7 Device Manager, it's under Human Interface Devices as ITECIR Infrared Receiver (SIO2) and Microsoft eHome...

First impressions & Teardown: Acer Revo RL70 AMD Sff System

The only person I've seen mentioning the RL70 with that TV tuner is RoughNeckTwoZero over at HotUKDeals, I'd link the thread but it's got a censored retailer in the URL so it breaks the link. Here's the quote anyway: My question is, for anyone who bought this, did yours come with a...

Wait for Bulldozer? Beginner HD video editing, £600 budget & need to buy before October

The CM 690II does look good, but it's a nicety and in my mind, one of the things I can skimp on. A cheaper case means I could get better components or if I go with the cheap route, I could add another 1TB F3. I'm a bit undecided really as the extra space and cooling aren't really major issues...

Wait for Bulldozer? Beginner HD video editing, £600 budget & need to buy before October

You'll have to excuse any dumbness in this post as I've been out of the loop for a while. As per title, I'm unsure whether to wait for Bulldozer or not as in my limited experience, Intel have always seemed to provide better CPUs for video editing. At the same time, I need to buy before October...

Is this normal for an IPS panel?

On this page, the top image, can you see each individual segment? Also, do you have another computer to try the monitor on? I might be related to your graphics card and the way it's handling gamma.

Is this normal for an IPS panel?

I don't think it's particularly normal, I have two U2311H and I don't have that gradient problem on either. There's visible bits of banding on gradients such as in this test, but otherwise the gradient from black to white is smooth - it doesn't "jump". This isn't a particularly great photo (I...

LG IPS LED - ips236. Is it even released yet? I bought one.

I've seen a few people link this forum thread (translated), where a few owners there are unhappy with these new LG IPS LED models. I've not actually bothered reading that yet so I don't know what specifically they're unhappy about, but apparently they're worse than say the Dell U2311H. Still...

    Dell u2311h calibration

They're all through the monitor's OSD except for the ICC profile, which you have to install separately into Windows. Just a note, the ICC profile will usually stop working/ignored if you play a game in fullscreen as well as some video media players.

    Samsung SA850 - 27" PLS LED Monitor

I'm glad that size, ratio and resolution combo is still being produced and I genuinely do hope PLS is what it's hyped up to be. There needs to be a better (and ideally cheaper) monitor than the Dell U2410 or HP ZR24w in that range given the slightly iffy quality control issues with current...

    Samsung SA850 - 27" PLS LED Monitor

Definitely a monitor and technology to watch out for, although I'm not so curious as to when it's going to come out, rather how much it'll be. I expect it'll still be a small fortune, but the tech is cheaper to produce than IPS so maybe the 27" Samsung will be cheaper than say the Dell U2711.

    24" Monitor - With Speakers

The speakers on it are meant to be pretty bad though, especially over HDMI. Several owners, some of which have posted on this forum (see here and here), have said the bass is completely cut off with HDMI audio. Hopefully the EW2430/EW2430V fairs better, as well as quality control issues.

Oh OK, read that a bit too quickly, I thought you meant "bit much" price wise (obviously).

Advice please, best monitor for Web Design

You can see the PS3 in action hooked up to the U2311H using a HMDI to DVI adapter cable in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4Q78-G1xHA#t=3m56 As for sound, I presume if you get the Dell Soundbar, HDMI audio should work. Just remember that the sound quality is likely to be pretty bad...
